I like how in that page Miranda with the seeker swarms is mentioned as plot armor but other extreme cases of plot armor are outright ignored. Page is bias I see.

That's because David edited the other cases out, he removed the entries for them.

That Sekat was injured while Liara was not may just show that she is a biotic and can protect herself from the concussion of the blast while he can't. If Sekat is even injured. It's hard to respond to a hypothetical counterpoint that has no evidence one way or another.

More to the point, though: she cannot die in LotSB -- scrippted or through player-choice -- because the writers wanted her to become the Shadow Broker going into ME3, for better or for worse. Even if it's for the best, it's still plot-armor by definition.

What's the problem with Liara having plot-armor? She's the best character in the game.

No she's not. I think she's one of the worst.

Come on, everyone knew they where not oging to make her killable in the dlc. Bioware already pissed off the Liara fans in ME2, making her killable in the dlc would have been throwing a cannonball at a child.

Who says that? Aside from the Dextro factor, Quarians are far more similar to humans than to Turians. They look like humans, their society is similar to humans and their sexual dimorphism is identical to humans.

Is their society more similar to humans than turians? Humans are infamous for their extreme individuality, whereas both turian and quarian culture value tradition and group-first thinking above all else.

False, Western cultures value individuality. Several Eastern cultures are either group-think or turning into individualistic.

In fact, historically, humans have had group-think cultures since and before recorded history.

Concerning Liara's plot shield, I think the impact of Thessia's aftermath would've been less dramatic without Liara or Samara in your team. Just my personal opinion.

Thessia is already a lesson in how not to force audience grief.

Thessia's whole mission was a rushed storyline event. They could've added so much more into it.

It'd be nice not to pretend that we're there to save the planet. The job was to get in, get what we needed, get out. Driving the Reapers off of the planet was so far out-of-scope it isn't even funny.

"Thessia fell, and that's on me!" and apologizing to Tevos are two of the most aggravating lines in the game. My spacebar gets a workout brushing past it.

Considering that Shepard may well have been directly responsible for the extinction of three different species by that point in the narrative without batting an eye at any of them, it's jarring to see (s)he finally takes responsibility/feels bad for/gets pissy about the only genocide in the narrative (s)he doesn't instigate.

For Control and Synthesis endings, maybe. No strings attached.

For Destroy endings (good and bad outcomes), I think having a love interest adds more drama to them.

True, I just go for bangs and LARP that Shepard is just using people for it.

You can actually do that to an extent in ME1 and ME2.

Still, NO ROMANCE AT ALL is still better. Shepard has a mission to focus on, there is no time for melodramatic bullcrap.

So make it player-choice. Her fans can save her, and her non-fans can kill her. Everybody's happy!

For the record, I'm not bothered by not being able to kill her nor do I particularly want to. Liara's plot-armor is just a side-effect of a bigger problem: her character's special treatment. Case in point: why does Liara get a DLC and not VS?

LotSB could've been about VS and Liara joining Shepard to find the Shadow Broker. But I guess both Kaidan and Ashley's voice actors weren't available back then? Anyways, they were both busy with the colonies and all that stuff.

On a more serious note the funny thing about people debating about what waifu was better written or acted, is that the things they are arguing about ultimately weren't major factors in their LI choice. Lets be honest: Even if all of the more popular LIs had been voiced by actors that gave Oscar-worthy performances and were penned by the world's best character writers, none of them would be popular if that was also paired with an unattractive character model.

I think Bioware got it right with making Liara the main focus of LotSB.

Where they stumbled was in not making Arrival a DLC where the Virmire Survivor played center stage. The solo mission was a bad idea in a game series where characters were always the main draw.

It probably would have ended with Ashley even more pissed off when I told her we were over, personally and professionally, by rejecting her via romance, and by rejecting her ideals and the alliance. Or possibly dead, if I could kill her.
