I don't mean to be a d**k but I'm going to be a d**k
F*** the newcomers...srs. They're always catered to. It's not that freakin hard to go to ME1-3 and play it. Hell just watch a couple Youtube vids and get caught up. I'm tired of producers catering to lazy f**ktards
End d**k mode.
"You should play over 100 hours of content or resort to watching videos to play and understand our games."
Sorry but I have to actually agree with Bioware on this one.
you should read 400 pages of the fellowship of the ring to understand two towers.....oh wait....
Or just sit your butt down and watch the movie. You don't see Peter Jackson making the Return of the King all "newcomer" friendly do you? I didn't have a clue what was going on in the 2nd or 3rd one, so I sat my a** down and watched the 1st one. It's my responsibility to obtain it.
I didn't read the books and I'm sure they're better than the movies but the movies was enough for me to understand the world.

you also have to pay for the games...they're not free. Also,it's going to be next-gen,which means console players would have to play on a last gen console again

Then add in the price of DLC and it quickly becomes even more expensive.
Let's continue off the LotR example
So I didn't undestand the Return of the King but saw the other two. I could understand Middle-Earth and LotR more if I saw the Hobbit but it's not essential.
The only purpose to cater to newcomers is for money. So you can get new people to buy your stuff. And I agree with that...but not all the time. Mass Effect is a big enough name now that it doesn't need to cater to newcomers anymore.
In the beginning of Assassin's Creed 3 they litterally recapped the entire previous 4 games in a mini short cinematic. That's all you need to do. If people want to know more on the backstory then go buy the freakin games and play it. If you're too lazy to do that then just look on youtube for "Assassin's Creed in 5 min" or some crap like that. And if you're still angry and lost and too lazy to do those things then I have no words for you.
Honestly Ubisoft is the only one that has gotten this thing right. Everybody else just wants 12 year olds' parents to buy their games
