I know exacly what you mean.  I can hold my own in gold.  I was playing with my brother (who just got the game) on bronze, and I failed badly two games in a row...

I play Silver to relax, practice unused builds, and get successful games in. I play gold to get serious, get paid, and do net-kegels for my e-peen.

Neither gold nor platinum are actually challenging, and platinum really isn't even that much harder than gold anyway. Platinum is also trivialized with four good players just as much as gold.

As a whole, this game stopped being challenging a looooooooong time ago.

I used to be a mostly Silver, sometimes Gold player. Then the Nomad banner begged (also BotB) which made me a mostly Gold player.

Now my fellow aussie poster above has started dragging me kicking and screaming into platinum - where I am mostly trying to not suck and be somewhat useful, hehe. Gold is still the level of choice however.

Silver, mostly. A few Gold Pugs here and there.

I stopped giving ****s about credits once I realized that Platinum meant I had to find someone to play with me or I had to endure 40+ minutes of intense carrying and lag, only to wipe at wave 10 or be the only one not to extract. Sacrificing myself so random players can escape with their creds gets old after a while.

Gold is my default difficulty. If I'm invited to a platinum game I'll play it, but I won't pug into a plat or start my own plat lobby.

Gold on PC. Playing with experience friends on PC is usually incredibly boring regardless of difficulty. I Plat occasionally, and sometimes I put on my tryhard pants and PUG Quick Search Plat, but I don't really need the money and don't care too much for challenging myself outside of solo runs either. I just play PUG Gold for shiggles.

Platinum on lolbox because I really need the money.

Three weeks ago it would have been silver, now it's gold - for Map Mastery. Silver only to level up or try out a kit/weapon for a change, or if I don't have any equipment. I wouldn't dare go into a gold game without gear/consumables; I'm not that good. I pug exclusively because the number of entries on my friends list is less than one.

Usually pug gold. If I'm in a good group ill run platinum.

I kinda have a feast or famine relationship with platinum. One day it's a cesspool of glitchers and rio box campers. The next ill land in a crazy good group that makes it seem like silver.

I play Gold - I tried Platinum but I found it ruined the fun, especially speed-running. It's hilarious at first but it becomes a bit grindy and repetitive. So much ruthless efficiency, using overpowered kits and weapons.

I like how things can go wrong with a good standard Pug. Playing with friends is nice and fun but it can't beat the randomness and occasional challenge Pug matches offer.

Platinum with DPS kits is not usually much harder than Gold with fun kits... you can roflstomp your way through Platinum using a Destroyer/PPR and you can roftstomp through gold with a melee specced Krentinel, whereas a melee specced anything is, to some extent, an exercise in frustration on Platinum because of the number of boss units.

Neither difficulty is really hard but Platinum is way more frustrating with some kits than Gold.

Having said that though, some gold games are almost pointlessly easy with some kits - Paladin vs Geth for instance... especially if you've got a Geth Engy on the team as well. U/U/G is the way to go, you can't pick an optimal kit for the enemy/map if you don't know what the enemy or map are going to be
