I've got a big dragon in my module and you're not really supposed to kill him early on and do it later instead however whilst running through on a playtest I decided to bash him I had to use a few respawns and watch all my companions bite the dust but I did it. Only problem is that the PC in my module is a monk and that meant that the dragon didn't go down but just stood there like an idiot.
I remember this happening to me in the OC and it's something to do with using blunt weapons or your hands only, thing is I don't want a pet dragon or a dopey useless blob hanging around my module I want him dead and lying on the ground.
I've checked the properties of the dragon but can't see anything that looks related so what is it that I have to remove/alter to get him to die properly no matter what hits him ?
Thank you..
Dragon Slaying.

I've turned my dragon into a human that looks like a dragon and has classes of dragon and it doesn't happen now so has anybody got any ideas where the bit to remove to stop this happening is as I plan to have a few more dragons around and with a monk punching everything it could get a bit messy with stunned dragons all over the place !

It might be the dragon's damage reduction. Monk unarmed strikes seem to only count as +1 weapons for the purpose of overcoming magical damage reduction, whereas dragons tend to have DR/+2. Unless you've checked the 'immortal' flag?
You could give the dragon a custom OnDamaged script that applies a death effect when it's hit points are less than or equal to 1. You could modify the OnDamaged script that trolls use.

DannJ.. I had a look at them and there's nothing unusual that would keep a dragon "stunned" when it's dead. For now I'm going to stick with it being a human that looks like and behaves like a dragon as it seems to work but I like the idea of the troll script and might use that for some future dragons.. Thank you.

I have noticed it for different type of creatures, could be humans as well. The creature is dead but still stands idle. IIRC it happens since one of the last patch. Replaying the same battle won't necessarily lead to the same effect. The creature may die properly. In addition the killer is not necessarily a monk or a bare hands fighter.
I've not been able to identify the cause. OnDeath standard script interfering with an unifished moving or casting standard script?
I usually mention it as a minor glitch in my mods.

That happens to me too sometimes and I don't mind the odd dead orc here and there but a massive red dragon looks a bit daft, he even moved around when you bumped into him ! Anyway so far so good he's behaving himself and has been going out with dignity.
