Why? Did she offend them or something?

You have a first hand testimony, up a few posts.

Some people just don't like her as an actress. I can't say I've met any fans of Miranda but outright haters of Strahovski. But some people just don't care about the latter.

It should never have been a matter for reference, though. The character should be judged on her own merits as personality, voice and appearance.

Then why were you discussing her appearance? All the "bashing" and "gushing" on this thread was solely tied to that.

Baelrahn wrote...

Actually, it was all about equally superficial things like trust, loyality and her relationship to TIM and Shepard.

I meant the particular derailment that lead us here, not the OP and on-topic replies.

Both were voiced by different people. The correlation is weaker.

Okay? It's one or the other, considering that Miranda is the only main character who is voiced and modeled after the same person.

Jacob doesn't look like Adam Lazarre-White.

Garrus doesn't look like Brendan Keener.

Legion doesn't look like D.C. Douglas.

Tali doesn't look like Liz Sroka.

Thane doesn't look like Keythe Farley.

Zaeed doesn't look like Robin Sachs.

TIM doesn't look like Martin Sheen.

Kasumi doesn't look like Kym Hoy.

Anderson doesn't look like Keith David.

Hackett doesn't look like Lance Henriksen.

Default FemShep doesn't look like Jennifer Hale.

EDI doesn't look like Tricia Helfer.

COMON BRO,you know this is a lie.The real reason they created miranda was for eye candy.Everything else is irrelevant

in short:

Miranda's character=her "backside"

You missed a spot. :P

I'm judging Miranda's appearance, as it is in the game. Not the person she was modeled to resemble, not the person who botched the model textures, and no, I'm not even going to pass judgement on whoever designed that ridiculous outfit.

No real people are being judged for being massive perverts, except Mirandalorians and Talimancers.

Actually, TIM looks a little like Martin Sheen But I don't know if that was intended.

But that was the point. A character that is both modeled and voiced by an actor has a stronger association with that actor than one who is only voiced or only modeled.

To be fair to them. I think every "mancer" on this site is probably a massive pervert with an unhealthy obsession with a videogame character.

Though it is/was always funny to watch two factions fight it out with no sense of awareness.

I've romanced Liara in every playthrough so far, but I don't really feel the need to get indignant when someone comments on what they percieve are character flaws - or hell, appearance flaws, like the fact her right eye sometimes get stuck half-open during ME1 dialogues.

Wether that makes me a "Liaramancer" is up to definition then, I suppose. I think most people have a favorite LI without getting creepy about it.

Funny how all the "Mirandalorians" on here are discussing deeper aspects of her character while the trolls are the only ones referencing appearance via bashing, and somehow we're the perverts.

I'm going to go with "go home, you're drunk".

not really."Deeper aspects of her character" that makes you look weird.A man is defined by his strength,a woman is defined by her looks. It's that simple

TIM does look a lot like Martin Sheen about 15-20 years ago. I see the correlation pretty well.

And by calling whoever disagrees with you trolls, you've proven yourself to be the worst kind of fanboy.

Also, deeper aspects of her character? You mean the fanfiction on Page 2 and on?

Vaguely, in headshape and facial structure.

Sure it was. Miranda has a stronger correlation with Strahovski than any other character has with either their models or their voice actors.

Therefore it is more likely that a fan of Miranda will also be a fan of Yvonne, than a fan of any other character and actor/model combination.

However that is not necessarily the case in all fans. Which is what the initial assertion was trying to say.

Surefire way to make sure your thread makes multiple pages:

Make it about miranda.

Talk about wanting to kill Liara. That always gets you a dozen pages or so.

Except that the people who are trying to bash Miranda by her appearance are being trolls

We're not calling everyone trolls. There are people here who are obviously out to try and get a rise out of other users.

And yes, you are doing the exact same thing. You're trying to objectively state that Miranda is a bad character and that reasonable people who like her are creepy weirdo's who are wrong about the character and think that everything anyone comes up with is headcanon. Can we have a reasonable discussion about Miranda that goes beyond "she's ugly and all her fanboys are perverts who have wet dreams of Strahovski?"

Actually, Martin Sheen's appearance when he was younger (say, when he was filming "Apocalypse Now", for example) kind of reminds me of what the Illusive Man may have looked like when he was younger. I'm not necessaily implying Martin Sheen's aspect was indeed used for TIM, but it's not too far off. Of course, Martin Sheen gained weight and aged differently than TIM did, but just check what the actor looked like back in the day, in his 30's and 40's.

In the context of the point I was contesting, no it wasn't. Somebody said that Mirandamancers romance Miranda because they want to vicariously get with Strahovski. Considering that Miranda is the only main character voiced by and modeled after the same person, like I said, there are no other direct comparisons I can make, thus the Sheploo and Rana McAnear comparisons. Everyone else is either voiced by or modeled after, not both.

Unless the original statement was meaningless bull**it meant to incite a negative response (always within the realm of possibility), there are no analogies.

For the record, look at Martin Sheen in Wall Street. He doesn't look anything like TIM except perhaps in his hair color. TIM, on the other hand, looks a disturbing amount like Jon Briddell.

It's a dissenting opinion. That's not bashing nor trolling - which is kind of my point. All the fanboys come out of the woodwork to scream "TROLL" when someone dares insinuate that their digital girlfriend is not perfect.

Edit:

Ventus, I think you dropped your own point somewhere. The reason someone said Mirandamancers just want to fantasize about boning Strahovski is precisely because she's more like the actress she's based on than any other character.

The funniest part is that my 1st page post was edited for having the f-word in it (censored, obviously), yet the same 3 or 4 people can come in here and troll for a number of pages without break.

Good job, mods.

Then what is this, if not a deliberate attempt to incite a negative response?

HellbirdIV wrote...

Miranda's face is all swollen and bloated and her skin is really unnatural. She's ugly as hell.

I've already told you that you are factually incorrect by saying "bloated and swollen", by the very definition of those terms. It's entirely possible to say "I don't think she's that pretty" without saying "she's ugly as hell".

Ventus, I think you dropped your own point somewhere. The reason someone said Mirandamancers just want to fantasize about boning Strahovski is precisely because she's more like the actress she's based on than any other character.

That's why it was made perfectly clear in that original post that it was because she's "more like the actress" than any other character.

Wait, no it wasn't.
