Tell me the worst things about Miranda. Everything you hate about her that made you want to reach through the screen and smack her stupid potato face - and no qualifiers are allowed.

So what you're saying is there's no middle ground between unwavering devotion, or seething hatred.

Who's the fanatic now?

Are you even aware of the irony?

I'm still waiting for that list of negatives.

It goes a long way to prove my point when you try to change the subject by focusing on something else to start an argument instead of actually trying to find flaws in your perfect digital girlfriend.

No, but as demonstrated by you lot, you can be a fanatic about defending a fictional something.

Except nobody in here IS.

Okay.

Tell me the worst things about Miranda. Everything you hate about her that made you want to reach through the screen and smack her stupid potato face - and no qualifiers are allowed.

I'll believe you're not a fanatic when you admit she's not perfect.

You're asking for something that not everybody feels and improperly generalizing them because they don't have a particular position on your situation or context. It's based from a biased position asking for an unbiased answer that will be judged in a biased manner.

Your post is irrelevant. Rephrase, refine, or re-evaluate.

You're going to continue waiting because you made a conjunction fallacy based on biased hyperbole. There is no result that you will accept. Your statement composition is fallacious. You've lost your argument, whether you acknowledge it or not.

I know, I'm not the target, but this is a great opportunity:

- her face
- her lack of emotion
- her love for Cerberus
- her arrogance
- her superiority complex
- her paranoid distrust

Because the alternative is moronic and Miranda doesn't strike me as a moron.

Because her writer was actually the one to clarify via twitter that Miranda's liaison's were for casual sex? She recieved the news that she was barren long before she engaged in the liaison's. The writer acknowledged several composition errors in the files. They are oversights.

You
should be listing the bad things about Tali, silly!

That said, I like your list. I don't agree with 'lack of emotion', but the rest are more or less the same things I dislike.

Just for fun:

-her face: Yes they captured it wrong and there are some uncanny valley moments. Other times it looks attractive.
-lack of emotion: gets developed as part of her character arc, particularly if romanced. Not everyone needs to be a Shepard fangirl from the start.
-love for Cerberus: more like a love for some of the ideals it supposedly stands for which are admirable on their own. The problem isn't her, it's Cerberus. Association with Cerberus also comes to a close at the end of ME2
-arrogance: mitigated in conversations with her where she admits she isn't perfect and is critical of her mistakes (which also play into her existential dilemma re: her genetic tailoring)
-superiority complex: see above
-paranoid distrust: warranted given who she works for, who is after her and who her enemies are.

Problem, Hellbird?

Yes! You find a potato attractive. That's just unnatural.

I disagree about her face. Just as I'm sure you and I disagree about the attractiveness of aliens, like Tali for example. This is perspective and cannot be objectively argued. This point is irrelevant.

She doesn't lack emotion. She's simply not prone to allowing it to dictate her logic and thinking. I find this one of her more attractive traits.

I greatly admire and appreciate Cerberus and many of their stated goals, as well as holding a realist perspective on their methods. There is no problem for me.

Miranda is very confident and competent, and she has the credentials and capability to back this up. Once again, this is one of the traits I prefer and admire.

Hardly. If you listen to Miranda at all, you'll know that she does what she does out of a drive to succeed. She utilizes her gifts and talents to the fullest.

There's no 'paranoia' at all. I will acknowledge this as an issue, though not a surprising or unsympathetic one. Miranda is definitely secretive and not prone to trusting easily. I'm the same way. I don't completely acknowledge it as a problem. Being untrustworthy of everything is better than being absolutely trusting of everything.

You have a problem with other people's perspectives and preferences. "People like something I find unnattractive! There must be something wrong with them!"

Mind Projection Fallacy, anyone?

Either that or you're trolling. I'm going with this because I don't you can be this anthropocentric with opinions.

Nah. I find Miranda attractive, for more than her looks.

Now that you mention it though, potatoes are pretty awesome too. Fries, mashed, baked, potato salad...

Yeah, I guess you could say I like potatoes.

Not according to JayW.

I would like to see this elusive quote by Jay W which would purportedly make my main complaint about Miranda's character development in ME3 invalid. I really want to see it.

The thing is, yes, there wasn't anything in ME3 that wasn't in ME2 to some degree, but the fact that the writers left important character aspects unaddressed gave those that remained a bigger narrative significance.

I can paraphrase it. He said the sex was a way at asserting control after leaving her father, not connected with the infertility. Suffice to say, I don't think the actual text supports it and I believe in death of the author.
