Just enter a gold match with one of the other players being a jug. Doest matter how good you or they are, the jug will carry you through.

LOL at this!! I just landed in a match on wave 3 with 2 Juggs AND an AIU. Wave 6, 4 hacks, both the Juggs go down and get executed before the third hack is done (no gels?!?). Shortly after the AIU gets phantom synced. I got the last hack complete then got synced too lol. May have been my most hilarious match so far :)

You are ready. The main thing to learn is what to look for in your teammates. I always looked to see if their load outs make sense and if they have gear equipped. You learn to spot potentially bad players pretty quick. The better you get, the less this matters, or the less you worry about 3 other good players as opposed to at least one other.

this is a myth

Wave 8 and the objective waves are no myth whatsover.

well if you're claiming those waves on Collectors silver are as hard as gold, then yes they are a myth whatsoever

I can't comment on that whatsoever...

What I will say is the early waves of Collector Gold are very irritating due to the number of basic troops and their assault rifles that laugh at your shields. :)

Late waves and Platinum go more heavy on Abominations (ridiculous budget per unit) and the heavies (Praetorian and Scion) and in a way are less irritating.

wave 8 with 2 primes, 2 pyros and 2 Praetorians that are usually possessed?
wave 10 with 2 Praetorians, 2 primes and 2 banshees?

They all telegraph their attacks, and none just pop up and fire a short burst that can kill you.  Banshee has DOT and if you dodge funny the Praetorian can laser you in one burst, but those are easier to dodge than the CAR.

Just gear up with a Kit you are comfortable with then start an open gold match on say Giant. Start... Its a good start and you usually end up at wave 3 them someone joins in. Then there will be the one game that you make it to 7 and all of the sudden someone pops in and you get mad they joined. That is when you know you are ready.

I like the QMI and TGI but they make cheese out of the Geth...who I play against most.

It's a good start, but not too important.
Solos can be very different from team games where your teammates spread the enemies all across the map :bandit:

Just take a good weapon (or someone with powerful BEs) start playing gold, you learn best that way.
It took a short while for me to get used to all the Banshees hopping around from Wave3 on, but the more you play the easier it gets.

Jump into it, have fun!

Sure, if you can solo Silver, it is one indicator that you can play Gold.  Another indicator is being able to play Silver without using any consumables, without needing to worry about mission failure.  However, I don't understand why some people are so focused on using Silver as an indication of whether you're ready for Gold.  The better indicator is just to try Gold and see how you do.  At worst, you're wasting 25-30 minutes of your time.  If you're killing a lot and not dying a lot, then you're ready for Gold.  If you're having a hard time, go back to Silver and practice without using consumables.

I had never even attempted to solo any difficulty before moving up to Gold, so I'm not sure how helpful soloing ability is in judging how you'll fare on higher difficulties.

If you can reliably beat Silver without burning through lots of consumables and equipment then you're probably ready.

Send me an invite if you like OP if you ever need a hand through some Golds.

I have you on my friends list...we can play a few games if I see you on. I think we got an u/u/g and it was Glacier Hazard Collectors about 5 weeks ago, so this time we can set the map and enemy and it should be smooth sailing.

I wouldn't call soloing any indication of how good you'll do on a team.

The best way is to just jump right into gold and try it out. The Turian Ghost is good to get your feet wet, but the use of the Stim Packs can result in you learning some bad habits since it means you can make a lot of mistakes and get away with it.

I'd probably try taking one of the characters with a bit more shields but who isn't nigh immortal. Maybe the Salarian Infiltrator since you'll still have Energy Drain.

Excuse me, 2 combat drone, 4 Geth Turrets, with Pyros that are guaranteed to eat you if you play off host and didn't notice it? I agree those troopers are annoying with their CAR XXXIVV, but later waves doesn't lack annoying things.

Not to mention wave 6 Turrets Turrets everywhere.

Spec TGI out of stim packs. Full fitness gives him tons of shields. I think this is by far the tankiest infiltrator. With that much shield, a cloak, and a dodge (albeit funny one) you can get out of any situation.

OP add me if you want practice. PSN = BSN.

For the 1000th time in this thread:

Just go play.

Jump in and get wet. Literally. Your first few Gold games, you're gonna get murked, and there's no better teacher than that. The upside is that the ass kickin' you're gonna get is going to help you take the next step in improving your game. Knowing when to use right hand advantage, knowing when to go on the offensive, when to find a new foothold to attack from. When to gel, when to revive....eventually, you'll find yourself learning faster ways to kill things, which will take you to another level altogether.

Best of luck; I hope my advice helps.

know what I've found?

usually the ppl who've put enough time and thought into their game and playstyle in terms of strengths and weaknesses, and how these may translate into gold play and then make threads about it here on BSN are MORE THAN READY FOR GOLD!

just do it :)
