Ok, so how do you distinguish sexy badass from just plain badass? I'm starting to suspect that her vocal inflections would not make a difference, because certain qualities of Hale's voice in and of itself would still lead people to have this opinion, unless she's raising her voice. And here's another question: is it possible for a male voice actor to sound "porno"? After all, there are men in porn movies too, yes?

I'll grant Jacob's dialogue, and to some extent Vega's, which is made worse by autodialogue, but I certainly won't for all renegade dialogue, because they don't all sound like those lines.

Besides some unimportant side characters I think the most bland and boring voice acting has got to be from Jessica Chobot as Diana Allers. She is just terrible. No effort what so ever, and a completely wasted character. WHY is she in the game?

I'd say it's probably because she fellated a PSP

Honorable mention, i cant help but hear male shepard as Zapp Brannigan. This has ruined all my attempts at male sheps.

Ignoring the really obvious choice of Chobot as Allers, I'd have to give it to Liara, especially her ME1 version.

I'm not sure if they were trying to make her sound all mystical and mysterious, but she just came across as bland and frankly not giving a damn. She's much better in ME2 (or at least LOTSB where she actually has to emote) and fluctuates a bit in ME3.

But nearly every bad bit of voive acting in the series is overshadowed by whichever poor sap they got to play the Catalyst (and Earth-kid). I know he`s just a child, but even child-actors are capable of far better.

She tries to sound "sexy" during her renegade dialogue, imo and I don't want "sexy badass" I just want "badass". I can't help but picture one of those pornos where the woman is a "super hero" and always expecting to be bent over a railing at any moment. It doesn't help that FemShep sounds even more "I'm in a porno flick" whenever she flirts or just having a regular conversation with Jacob.

Shepard to Jacob: "I thought we'd just talk for a bit."

The voice actors get coached during the sessions. -- "That was good. Now do it again, but sound sexy this time. Really come on to him."

You know, you have to make it so obvious to the player of fem shep that THIS is your ROMANCE option for the game. I mean you even look at femSheps body language during the "I thought we'd just talk for a bit." Combine the two together and it was -- Okay Jacob, I'm not even going into that room anymore. Yet, with the Thane romance? WTF? She was fine.

It's the coaching.

But I don't get sexy badass over the top with the renegade dialogue. Yeah, it's cheesy. It's no worse than the macho badass dialogue in macho action movies.

One thing I like about Allers is that she's practical and kind of Renegade in her thinking. She openly proposes scenarios that would sacrifice one planet to save five (in the case of Terra Nova). I don't think Javik would throw her out of the airlock.

Her farewell email has a good line too. "Normal is the best revenge." She just wants everything normal again. Sounds like another supporter for Destroy.

This is more about the writing though. Not the acting. I just think the character itself isn't a bad idea. Emily Wong probably wouldn't say the same things about Terra Nova. Not sure about Al-Jilani.

I found male Shep to be...flat. Not bad, just bland.

I always joke with my friends about how blandly he reacted to Garrus taking a rocket to the face. He just looked over and went 'Garrus.' Not OMG GARRUS STOPPED A ROCKET WITH HIS FACE! Nope. Just...Garrus. There he is. Bleeding all over the floor. Isn't that nice.

I found the same thing with Liara. She either didn't emphasize anything, or emphasized something that didn't seem right to me. It came across as awkward. She did much better in ME1 than the subsequent games.
