Anyway, I don't think having an overabundance of cyborgs would be a good idea for the series.

That's the thing I never understood about the reapers. They made majority of them into cyborgs. (First prothean beacon vision, Saren, the Cannibals, the banshee... ) Then the other half the made into complete machines through the use of organic materials being extracted. (Human colonists life blood = giant robotic structure)

Also to add to that arent Human biotics are technically cyborgs aswell?
The implants in their heads?

Would you call people with pacemakers cyborgs too since they have machines regulating their heart beat? I'll go ahead and lump biotic implants as mind "prosthetics" since they can extend the humans "reach" or control over the powers of the mind.

The Reapers were already large dreadnought types of ships already, being that of a machine but with a sentient mind. That's the way they were when we were introduced to Sovereign. And then came husks, and eventually we saw what Mass Effect 3 brought with the entire faction. There's not much a machine-death squad can do in terms of organics.

Wouldn't it be a bit mean to give a quarian a geth arm/leg?

No, that would be cool.
But really, what if they gave a geth a quarian arm/leg/

I CHALLENGE YOU TO A LIGHTNINGDOME!!!!

Me?

No I am just saying silly things. If lightningdome were real it would be a random game on gold with a random kit and weapon... interesting.

... I kinda wish there was an "Unknown Kit" option where the game randomly assigns you your character in the lobby. You'll still be able to change weapons and equipment just not select which of your characters to use... would save me the effort of mooching through the menu to see what I feel like playing next :)

I would consider those people like cyborgs.  Especially if they are in mass effect and using super higher tech rather than what current day (IRL) science uses.
Especially considering it's a sci-fi. Not using the term cyborg takes some of the fun of that fantasy aspect of it.

Indeed. But reaper forces 'husks' still came. Cyborgs. Not just of the human species but presumably of every species in it's respective cycle. If you've ever fought husks you know they don't cart you off someplace to reaperfye you. They kill you.
But species are required alive if they are to be preserved as a life form; in turn used to manufacture a new reaper. If the goal is indoctrination why did they bother creating cyborg reaper gooks... No one knew the reapers were coming, they would have gotten away with indoctrinating us if they didn't come off as violent first hand by having husks attack us. (Not just with us, the visions and what Javick talks about are similar) It seems counterproductive to create cyborgs via reaper tech and the organics you wish to harvest in the cycle of making a new (big) reaper.

The amount of augmentation possible before someone can no longer be considered human has been a philosophical debate for a long time (at least since technology made it an imaginable possibility). In my mind a cyborg would be at the point which you can no longer survive without your augmentations.
There's also the flip side of cyborgs, which are androids. Androids are machines which have, or have the appearance of, organic components. They are at their heart however, not "alive". Husks would probably fall under this if we use modern ideas of categorization.

Actual sentient reaper ships however fall under a category which, to my knowledge of science fiction, does not exist. Reapers are machines made of organic components. According to the catalyst, this perfect symbiosis between organic and mechanized material is the highest level of evolution.

Let's not read into this too much. We don't need the 6 million dollar man in ME.

Andoids are completely mechanical other than in appearance/behavior though.

Husks are cyborgs. The first ptrohean beacon vision shows the protheans being forced into being cyborgs. It's the merging of flesh and machine that make them cyborgs.

But you're right the full fledged reaper ships don't really have their own classification.

And with all that being said yeah; I'm willing to drop the conversation now.

"efficient shot" said by a geth would take on a whole new meaning....

It does remind me of Token.

Remember when Token used to be funny then he got weird?

I do.

Limbs, did you ever get your 1v1?

And no, in the greatest travesty ever, the guy that made this thread decided I was too abrasive when I did get on the xbox so no 1v1 ever actually occurred.

I thought token was always weird, cuz he talked entirely too much for someone who never played. Like some other people here.

And well, you are abrasive. :P <3

I'd be happy to 1v1 you on PS3 just for the sake of giving you your 1v1 you wanted.

I'm not normally a 1v1 kinda guy, really. But I figure, I feel like I missed out on part of what makes the BSN the BSN, if that makes sense, so why not?

Aww, unfortunately for you (and me) I no longer own a PS3, so no 1v1s can occur on it. :'p

What a spoilsport.

Although I wonder what went through his head when he made that evaluation. Actually, I think Limbs already has a good guess what it was, and I wouldn't be surprised if she was completely right.

...and I'm overanalyzing. Slow day at work, you know.
