I'm just wondering something regarding how one plays and had played Shepard with regards to this comment from Garrus. When Shepard says "time to spill a little merc blood" rather menacingly and Garrus responds with this, I'm wondering... is this always the response Garrus gives no matter what, or does it change if one imported their save and played in a more Paragon fashion.
I hope it does, since it would seem odd for Garrus to say "glad to see you haven't changed" so a Shepard who isn't really like that at all. I know a Paragon Shepard would less likely be one to say that, but still... just wondering.

You know when he said that I was wondering the same thing myself. Cause if you were a paragon in your ME1 save and you said that it would feel out of place. Maybe there'll be a diffrent response when you're a paragon. Be interesting to see.

It could be based off of how you last directed Garrus. If you and him where Renegade buddies, then of course, its all about getting stuff done the quick and dirty way. But if you are Paragon with Garrus, then its possible he will say something else.
Garrus by default, leans to the Renegade side - so that may be those who meet Garrus and don't have a ME1 save.

My paragon had no trouble spilling merc blood. It was innocent blood he avoided.

Every time I hear that line I smile.
But even if you were a Paragon a lot of what you did was travel around and kill Geth/Krogan/Mercs/etc so his comment is pretty valid. Shepard was portrayed, no matter your alignment, as a person who was willing to get their hands dirty.

Yeah... but there's a difference between a Shepard who is eager to kill and one who only did it when they felt it was necessary. And most of my Paragon Shepards are in the latter category. The way the line is delivered and the look on Shepard's face in that scene clearly indicates that he's enjoying the idea of killing.

Hmm... I can see you point. I guess then it comes to making a different conversation choice rather than say "Let's kill some Mercs"

It is quite possible that if you say "Let's kill some Mercs" and were/are paragon, he might make a contrary remark like "Not what I expected to hear from you..."
