Does that mean it's impossible to bring the galactic readiness to 100% offline?
Multiplayer should always be isolated from campaign mode, no interconnectedness.

EA is known for taking down servers. Also for all those players invested hundred or even thousands of hours and money for those microtransaction payments, such services can disappear in an instant and all your hard work can be evaporated into nothing.

You don't need multiplayer anymore for any of the endings as long as you have downloaded the Extended Cut.  Besides when asked about it before BioWare has said they have a plan when they sunset the servers.

It would be awesome if Bioware makes everything, classes, weapons ( all upgrades) unlocked when the servers go down. Playing to unlocking them can be a chore when you just want to grab a gun and quickly mow down bots. That's the fun of it, not grinding for levels again and again. It feels like work, which was why I stayed away from multiplayer and enjoyed Campaign. Also when microtransactions are attached it gives me heavy emphasis to avoid. Rather play halo 4 and know what I paid for with ms points.

I agree, my readiness is 89% and it drops quite quickly to 50%. The link between SP & MP was to get people to try out the multiplayer.
Micro-transactions are (and should only ever be) for players with no-time, but money, to upgrade gear and accrue supplies without spending hours upon hours playing, especially when they have families and jobs that need attention too. :P I think they're priced quite highly though, but maybe that's to prevent gamers who play a lot from buying up hundreds of packs AND playing MP for 1000 hours.

I lose all the credits I'd been gaining during a mission, for the next pack.

BioWare/EA have announced no plans to shut down the ME3 MP servers. Last I heard, EA had planned to support games for longer in general. Regardless, as of last year, I'd heard that BioWare had a plan in place for whenever EA decides to shut down the servers.

I'm reasonably certain that EA would only shut down the servers if it's an old game and/or doesn't have a lot of players. It's unfortunate if you're one of the people still playing the game, but one can hardly expect EA to continue supporting FIFA 2006 on the PlayStation2, for example, when that game is 7 iterations and nearly two console generations behind.

I Googled "EA shut down servers" and this page was the first to come up.

It would be cool to play MP offline with bots as an option.

Yes, I mean... "Ally AI" is already in the game, they probably just need some minor AI tweaks to use special items and revive downed players... Or maybe not? Just let us have some mindless Allies and go crazy.

Those ally bots as you describe them... What characters would they be? You purchase them or they are automatically chosen by the AI? Meh... Seems a little farfetched to me. I'd love to have a single player version of the MP, but as long as I get to choose every squad members manually and decide what they equip or use for their skills.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, Maybe a patch BW could work on if the situation would occur to make it possible for us to play with bots. Maybe make that the new items to unlock when you buy Spectre packs.

Are people still playing MP? I've only started playing ME in March. I just assumed no one was playing MP.

I haven't played MP in ages, but considering people still post on the MP forum here and EA hasn't shut down the servers yet, some people are still playing.

Aren't the Extended Cut and multiplayer dlcs only *available* until a specified date early next year (2014) which is when I assume the servers will be taken down.

Two years later and around the time we first start hearing about the next Mass Effect game set for 2015.

Plenty of people still play MP, it's very easy to get a match in bronze through the "Quick Match" system, haven't played much of the others, but it's still fun, even if it's against bots.

Only wished Bioware/EA kept supporting it, some nice potential there for way more...

Aslong as they keep saves relevent for import and export and the fact that mass effect 1 and 2 are still being played alot i see no reason to remove or shut down the mp servers myself, at worst they will just piggy back them with whatever mass effect 4 MP servers they throw up.

Can't play MP at the moment myself because of some family issues I am not home because I am needed to help out and where I am staying doesn't have an internet connection, so I am hoping they keep the servers open a long time when I do get things squared away but I won't be surprised if they close them down soon because the last time I was playing ME 3 multiplayer (during my last ME 3 run a couple of months ago) lobbies were not crowded at all.

This idea is perfect.

If I recall allied bots for offline is what many of us were hoping for anyway when MP was announced for ME3, it would be a beautiful thing if we can have that luxary after EA decides to shut down MP.

But if not, at the very least we should be able to play MP solo. I still havent unlocked everything yet after playing MP (almost every day) since day one. :P

That's also something I was concerned about. Personally, I think it was a bad idea to tie the SP to MP. Years from now, when people are playing ME3.. their galactic readiness will always be stuck at a frustrating 50%. They are forced to do as many side missions and consult guides to maximize war assets, which is kind of no fun. Or play the Infiltrator or something instead of just, you know, playing the game straight through.

I don't know if it's my internet connection or what, but I rarely am able to join an MP game nowadays on XBox Live.

And few would complain or express worries if it was really about 7 years old games. But it's not. FIFA 2011 servers were shut down in January 2013.

The issue I assume would be for completionists who like to get every achievement in a game.

You can't get the Defender achievement without either the multiplayer, N7HQ or Apps (are Datapad and Infiltrator still working?)

So when the servers go down anyone who doesn't already have Defender will be unable to earn it.

It's not a big issue and shouldn't hurt enjoyment of a game but achievements do have an odd hold on some people.

There was a game called Warhammer Online that went from 64 servers down to one or two. It's run by Bioware/Mythic and despite the extremely low population, it's still up.

My point is, unless there's almost no one left playing multiplayer (eg. a ghost town, with no one connecting, and not being able to find a match for hours), they will keep the servers up.

The thing with the Defender Achievement voteDC mentioned is the only real problem. Getting the best endings is easily possible with just the core game and EC by now, provided you complete side-missions (which is a reasonable thing if you're going for the best ending). Readiness may sit at 50%, but it's just a number without real meaning.

I should be able to play the game and get any ending I want even if the game is 20 years old. If I bought the game, I bought the game. The endings shouldn't be locked out due to some scheme EA cooked up to increase multiplayer participation, coupled with lack of willingness to continue support.

If you want to have this scheme to increase multiplayer participation (which I also dislike), then at least support it so we can continue to get all endings in the future when the multiplayer servers shut down.

Alternatively, get rid of the stupid multiplayer-incentive scheme, so that the game doesn't need the support you say it is unreasonable to expect from the company.
