TL;DR. But I agree. I actually use it on my MQI exclusively. Charge mechanic with cloak and tactscan just synergizes so nice. Charge, cloak, tact scan, fire. Pow 1 hit a gold ravanger. 1-2 hit a brute. The fact it bypasses shieldgate is nice too.

Added tl;dr. Haven't tried it on him yet, because I usually run the Venom on that guy

Lol great GIF, I felt so stupid, that must be one of the weirdest walls to shoot through, especially after shooting through it a few seconds before that (here) - I have the same issue with the Javelin.

I approve of the title change. The BW is even more overrated than the Claymore. Arc Pistol is one of the best weapon in the game.

Impressive shooting in the videos! Tried the T.Sentinel again with the arc pistol and did nowhere near as good! Makes me think the strength is in the player here, not the weapon. I think the OP would probably do as well with the Talon (or, just about any other weapon!)

Thank you. It gets better with practice. And if I'd do well with the Talon it's because the Talon is one of the best, possibly even the best weapon in the game

Yes, you're running it since forever. My initial inspiration was seeing Richter Harken run with it, and that was before the buff. Haha, that's one of the reasons I made this thread. No rapid firing anymore

Great video and great guide. I didn't know that charged shots break shieldgate, so no more Disruptor ammo for my Arc Pistol.

I second this, since I can't aim a sniper rifle for gods sake this pistol is like a god send to me and I find myself continuously head shotting when I'f I had a black widow I would be missing all the time.

Honestly I find it harder to aim holding left mouse than to aim and briefly click, or click for a quarter second.  But it isn't rocket surgery or anything.

quick question; out of curiousity wouldn't wrap ammo be better since you have wrap? also would the trauma system heavy pistol mod be better than the weapon damage mod you used since most of your shots were aimed at the head?

Good on you. Dark Souls is awesome. Except for the PvP. Too laggy for the quick-reactions it requires. Nothing quite like having a player backstab you through your front. Kalameet and Artorias the Abysswalker are pretty damn insane one on one.


But yeah, OT: Nice vid, even though I didn't watch. Still don't care about the Arc Pistol.

You don't have any cover penetration that way, unless you also take a piercing mod on the pistol  That might make dealing with the occaisional armored Cannibal, Guardians, and Brutes a little more annoying.

Tried this out OP
It was fun, did get the 20 headshots medal
but also got crushed by phantoms (which normally doesn't happen when I use an AR on the Tsent)
But then its the first time I really tried the Arc pistol out like this so I'll practice some more

This. It's a build optimal for Gold and Plat. You'll need AP IV for double/triple hit bugs, e.g. you won't get those on an Atlas without it.

Just keep trying, Phantoms are always annoying. I always start with an Overload and try to go for a headshot. If they get too close - TECH ARMOUR. Keep casting Overload until Barriers are down, then it's easy.

OK, so I tried out the Arc Pistol on the TSent last night.  I tried it on Silver, because I'm not really good at aiming charge weapons, and I didn't want to be a drag if I sucked with it on Gold.  I did get top score, and it worked really, really well - actually it was much easier to get used to than I thought it would be.  My only issue is that I use the same finger for shooting and Overload (right bumper - XBox), so I had to keep using my right thumb to hit the Overload button.  This made me slower, and I needed to stand out of cover for longer in order to line up my shots. 

So I'm now sort of a fan of the Arc Pistol - although I'm worried that my slowness on the trigger will hurt me on Gold.  I'll give it a try this weekend.

Okay, I take back everything I said, the Arc Pistol is great in the right hands (and on the right kit).

As I see it, it needs two things to work really well:
-something to strip shields/barriers
-headshots.

It's really easy to get headshots with the AP so that's ticked, but I'm not sure if it works equally well on characters that have no means to deplete enemy protections. I'll keep experimenting.

I use my index fingers for the bumpers and the middle fingers for the triggers because of that - have you tried that?
And it's great that you found some love for the Arc Pistol - you'll get used to it :happy:
