Okay, I take back everything I said, the Arc Pistol is great in the right hands (and on the right kit).

As I see it, it needs two things to work really well:
-something to strip shields/barriers
-headshots.

It's really easy to get headshots with the AP so that's ticked, but I'm not sure if it works equally well on characters that have no means to deplete enemy protections. I'll keep experimenting.

Is Phasic ammo okay on this weapon?

Haven't tried Phasic ammo tbh. On the Asari Adept I use Heavy Barrel, Piercing Mod and Warp Ammo - Stasis or Warp to prime, headshots to kill.
Also use it on Engineers, HE has Overload for shields/barriers and Incinerate for armour, pretty much perfect.
FQE is also nice. 
Or try Abrams' MQI with Cloak and TacScan - pretty funny.

I like it on the phoenix adept because I don't spec Lash so I don't have to press RB at all

Yup, would definately recommend getting accustomed to working the RT button with your middle finger. I will however usually claw on Vanguards with a high-cooldown (exceptions: Novaguard and Slayer which are more reliant on the RB button) or occasionally Infiltrators that don't need the RB button (GI mainly) just because of the constant access to the Y button.

On a side note: I personally prefer the Arc Pistol on the Geth Engineer. The faster movement speed seems to flow better with it's aiming for me. Still awesome on the TSent.

A bit shaky on the human engineer. But it's probably me and my nerves when it comes to those cqb clutch shots lol. Last week I dropped the ball twice - attempting to clutch waves failing to finish of the last armor bar of a Geth Prime and on another occasion a dragoon. Nevermind lessons learned.

And the AP sound effect seems to be disliked by the players I team up with regularly.

Speaking of Arc Pistol adventures. Managed to keep up with Tchoktchoky a week or so back with the Batarian Sentinel /w AP Ammo Arc Pistol when he was using a Turian Soldier /w I believe the Hurricane or Blood Pack Punisher on Platinum.I believe the enemy was Cerberus.

Tested on Platinum:

With the TSent build I posted and proper use of Warp and Overload you can one-clip an Atlas (double and triple hit areas), a Banshee (headshots) and a Praetorian (headshots, no bubble) - a Prime (headshots) still had one bar of armour left, a Posessed Praetorian (headshots, no bubble) will be dead after 1.5 clips.

So single clip DPS is what matters here.

I rarely use anything else on Silver/Gold. I generally PUG so never really sure of the 7uality of player if they join mid-game. I like to know that I can carry the wave if needed. The Arc gives me that.

With practice and the right mods this gun is way better than the Black Widow. I played 7uite a lot with the Widow for the Sniper Challenge and yes with Drill ammo on an Infiltrator, I enjoyed it. What it lacks and where the Arc really scores is how many shots you can place just because of the BW's reload. Even RLC is not as 7uick as the Arc.

Alijah, I've tried both Cranial and Heavy Barrel. I find that the Heavy Barrel with Drill works best but I will try the Cranial again to compare.

Another great thing about the Arc is that it can be used effectively against most enemies. It doesn't need reloading much on Bronze as it holds 90 rounds with +thermal clip and if you are accurate enough that is plenty. Obviously on higher levels the shot count goes up relative to the enemy but it's still better than say the M11 Suppressor or the Executioner both of which run out 7uickly.

Arc every time but you do need to be able to headshot consistently even when things get flaky.

Not necessarily, especially on Platinum.
Less damage against multiple hit areas like Atlases, Ravagers, Scions etc.

Yeah I have to agree with Max on that one re the Cranial Trauma. I prefer the Heavy Barrel V. If you don't get the head at least you are doing e7uivalent damage anywhere else, Hitting the Atlas on the glass, Ravager on the Blue Circle and Scions take their right shoulder out first and the Arc shreds them, everytime.

It works well with a Soldier due to the Adrenaline which I love, but yeah on a Turian with Overload (which is one of the better powers I find), plus you were doing a Sentinel build as well I believe Max?  Then you have the Armor damage as well, Arc over BW every time.
