Rebooting the series would do nothing but ****** people off because it'll be weaker, less rpg versions of mass effect 1 and 2 and than only a moderately better mass effect 3, or possibly worse depending on how they handle it.

Right, because that wasn't happening anyway from ME1-ME2-ME3

And would you like to see mass effect 1 redone in the same style as mass effect 3? Conversation and choice style and all? With action mode included?

Mass effect 1 now, complete with sovereign discussing organic vs synthetic conflicts and enough of it shoved down your throat to never be seen as poorly foreshadowed again.

You misunderstand.  I don't want to redo Commander Shepard's story, I want a brand new story with zero connection to the old one.  It would be nice to go back and redo Shepard's story "right" but that's not gonna happen.  THe story's been torched and it's not getting fixed.

I don't want ME3 anywhere near any future installments of this universe.

No prequel
No sequel
No sidequel

Start over.  Same time period, same species, worlds, lore (what hasn't been smashed to pieces yet) new cast of characters, new adventures.  If you want Shepard's story, those games are over there.  This is something new.

Go back and stop being ashamed of making rpgs

Do you mean start in 2183 but without Sovereign, and the reapers aren't coming?

And even better, no shepard, anderson, hackett, garrus, ashley, kaidan, wrex, tali, council, udina, all npc's, and no joker or normandy.

So pretty much a sequel in everything but name only.

So why not just make a sequel then.

It would also be problematic to erase 10+ years worth of work on a canon trilogy just because a few people are still upset.

Don't know about you but I think an alternate universe would ****** more fans off than picking canon endings/choices. But you're right, might as well make it a prequel in the two decades before me1

As far as sequels go, I think BW has shot themselves in the foot.

A reboot will pretty much invalidate Shepard's entire story.

Prequels and sidequels hold no interest for me because they all lead to the same place.

My opinion: Don't make any more Mass Effect games. Or at least fix ME3 before you go in any direction.

That general time period, yeah.  Give or take a few years.

Not really.

ME1-3 will still be out there for those who want to play it.  It's a self-contained story.

Neverwinter Nights doesn't invalidate Baldur's Gate, after all.

+1 there are always going to be people upset about something,  can't waste time and resources trying to please them.

I'm really not seeing why you are so against a sequel.

Neverwinter nights didn't steal baldur's gate's identity and name.

We'll see what happens, they are probably still in the early stages of planning what they want to do with the next batch of ME games.

Why am I suddenly seeing red flags everywhere I look?  :?

I'm confused. Is he referring to Mass Effect in general or the new IP? Because I thought Hudson wasn't handling the new games and was working on that.

It wouldn't surprise me if you got your wish going off what Casey Hudson said, or that other bloke that said the next game doesn't have to be before during or after.

However I don't see much difference between Bioware saying 'This game is set in 2183,based in a universein which the reapers aren't around and we will have a new story and characters' to them saying for example 'the next game is set in 2386 and is based from a universe in which the reapers were destroyed, the quarians survived etc'other than them being scared that it will annoy a lot of fans, if they cannoned destroy say.

I'd be disappointed if they did that.

Although I'm mildly unhappy with the ending, ME3 was a great game. So was ME2. Even ME was a good game, although already dated.

New fictional universe sounds like DC universe earth 1, earth 2, retcons, and all that jazz.

Just more vague dev talk that confirms or denys nothing then.

I'm all for new characters, new squad, new protagonist, new ship etc... but I really do hope it is a sequel that takes place years or decades after ME 3.

This would be my preference, even if reapers are never mentioned again.
