How much would a Collector's Specially Limited Bonus Edition cost? I thought paying $80+ for the ME3 N7 Edition was already too much..:(

Would you pay $100 on the "regular" Special Edition that would probably only have the usual digital content and a *****y litography? How about a $150-$200 Collector's Edition that has all that AND a poorly-crafted figurine?

I payed $120 AUD for the N7 edition, so $100 sounds quite nice. :)

I've never bought one of those cubes that come with a doll.

This is already the case for Australians.

How much did you think you'd be paying for what is essentially the collectors edition of a dvd? You know, the ones that cost way more than the normal dvd's for the movie, and come with less stuff than collector edition video games do.

Also, I think your over-reacting. I wouldn't pay 150 to 200 for such a thing, but I do know there are people who would. Case in point below,

http://www.amazon.co...s/dp/B0050SYNYQ

It's not meant for people like me, and no ones forcing me to buy it, so yeah.

Considering how often I replay games I like, $150-$200 isn't too much. Of course, if I were going to shell out that much for a video game, I would want assurance that the game would be replayable. DA:O, a game that offered infinite replay value, is easily worth that much or more. DA2, with its more limited palette of customization and in-game role-playing decisions... not so much.

In other words, if they're going to charge that much for a game, they had better offer a really good demo that demonstrates replayability. DA2's demo, which offered nothing more than a chance to wink at Isabela, would not have inspired me to lay out extra for the Collector's Edition, if there was one.

Australians don't count, unless you're 16 and living on allowance. Exhange rate is different, income is different, etc, etc.

Wow you're ignorant.

The Australian dollar has been close to the US dollar in value for years. Right this minute, it's worth 92 US cents.

The exchange rate has nothing to do with the price of games in Australia. If it did, they'd actually be much cheaper.

I blame australian politicians for the prices myself.

I paid $82 for the N7 Edition, which had all the goodies of a *regular*  Special Edition. That's $20 more. Also I'm obviously exagerating on the price tag. I have no idea what it will actually cost, I'm only speculating based on the $79.99 price tag for the regular version of the game.

Additionally, my topic is directed towards sane people

I'm not entirely wrong, am I? And my point about different income still stands.

Okay, for me that is scary, since here In NZ we pay the equivilent of $80 American for the NORMAL edition of games, on the current generation.
So yeah, If they start charging us the same as American prices, that will be...a rise to $125 NZ for the special edition, about what we currently pay, then $190 to $250 NZ, for the statue edition that currently costs us $150 NZ.
So if they finally give us the same prices America gets, then I might consider the occasional game from EA, but no CE games.
However if the general price ratio stays the same, **** No, I doubts I will be able to afford the regular EA games,

Where on earth are you getting those numbers from?

Microsoft and Sony both said they intend to charge US $60 for their console titles.

Costs of production not withstanding, there is a way to get the price knocked down.

Do not buy the games on release day.

Sure, it'll hurt the developers, but this is the only kind of pain that will effect change.

XBOX1 suffered something similar when PS4 demonstrated a much better understanding of the state of the sofa gamer when they stripped out all the features that made sharing discs and made supporting indy game developers easier. And made the price of the console cheaper than it's more expensive rival.

Games may have different buying power due to gamers being a captive audience depending on their console of choice, but the developers have to operate under the reality of the consumer's criteria of what they are willing to part with to enjoy the gaming experience. If the majority go for cheaper games because they can't make their paychecks stretch that far, developers will drop the price.

That said. The game industry does seem to need more investment now that gaming has come along so far. In the past 3D was a pipe dream, motion control sensors were non existent and everything relied on buttons. Gaming has come along since then and will need the investment to continue pushing that more expensive games would support.

Or maybe just let go of the gaming itch and scratch going out in the sun more.......

....

..

Naaaaah.

Oh, were bringing Economics in now, well then I did accomadate for the exchange rate, several times. And Income,
You do realize the NZ GDP is about 58% of that in America right, so youre arguement on Income is actually not on your side.

Simple solution, don't get the collector's edition and wait for reviews to see if the game is worth the hypothetical price hike.

As defined by whom? Some might consider a fixation on dollars and cents at a point when we no next to nothing about the game its own kind of insanity. Why $79.99 instead of $80? Is that extra penny a deal breaker? Is $20, the cost of a 2-topping pizza in the American Northeast, enough to sway someone's opinion? Those who complete the game will invest 40+ hours in it. Two dollars an hour is still cheaper than the cinema.

But yeah, I stopped trying to work out cost of living stuff. In the US, a worker earning a decent wage can buy a dinner at a restaurant for one hour's pay. In Surrey, England, a worker earning a decent wage can buy a dinner at a restaurant for one hour's pay. Given the exchange rate, most English people find it ridiculously cheap to shop in the US and ship their stuff home, but that isn't something BioWare needs to worry about. Affordability is relative.

Yeah, I don't care what they charge and I'm Australian and pay more than most anyway.

If they need to charge more and make an excellent product then I'm on board with stumping up the extra cash. I just want a great game to play next year.

My bank account hates me!

I will buy it after one year. It's not like I'm going to get a different story if I play late.

Reason: EA for some reason decided to raise PC game prices in my dear old country to US prices; that's a 133% hike in a year. I'm neither rich nor insane.
