I did not see this combination of survivors/casualties listed in the Suicide Mission Guide thread, so I thought I would post it here.

Casualties: Kasumi, Thane, Jack, Zaeed, Jacob
Survivors: Garrus, Grunt, Miranda, Tali, Legion, Mordin, Samara

All loyalty missions completed.

Non-loyal:
Jack (loyalty lost by siding with Miranda)
Thane (lost track of Taleed, Kolyat not caught. Thane, it was a stupid plan!)

The original idea was to weed out characters who play only a bit part in ME3. This would have included Samara, but her loyalty power (reeve) and the assualt rife upgrade were too valuable to me to pass up. So she will survive into ME3. Because Zaeed was loyal (I took the renegade path on his mission because I wanted the assault rifle upgrade) I also couldn't find a way to get rid of Grunt while still getting rid of Zaeed. Besides, I like Grunt too much for that anyway.

When looking over the planned list of casualties I noticed, however, that except for Jacob they all had something in common: they were all criminals. Kasumi is a thief, Thane an assasin, Jack a murderer, Zaeed a mercenary and founder of a criminal gang. I was tempted to take Jacob off my list of planned casualties just to have a pure kill-the-criminals run through, but I wanted to see someone taken away in the seeker swarm because I have never seen that scenario before. So Jacob stayed on the to-be-killed list.

Normandy upgrades:
Solaris Armor: installed
Multicore Shield: not installed
Thanix Cannon: installed

Approach:
Kasumi incinerated in engine room. (what was she doing down there?)

Infiltration:
Tech Specialist: Tali
Second Fireteam Leader: Miranda

The Long Walk:
Biotic Specialist: Jack (Note: if I had picked Samara, Jacob could have survived)
Second Fireteam Leader: Zaeed
Sheppard's Team: Jacob, Mordin

Jacob was carried away by a swarm of seekers. Zaeed was shot in the stomach after his shields failed. (Let me also say that as my first time playing as a soldier, and also trying to orchestrate a certain outcome, this part was harder for me than on any other playthrough. Jacob is a less than ideal team member here!)

Normandy Crew: all survived
Escort: Tali

Sheppard's Final Assault Team:
Garrus
Thane (died from falling debris after the destruction of reaper larva)

HTL Team:
Miranda
Grunt
Jack
Mordin
Legion
Samara

Jack was last seen by her team mates lying in a pool of blood while collector troops advanced on the reargaurd.

One final note, playing as a soldier I found it incredibly difficult to shoot the reaper larva, even with a 70% time dialation. Of course, I am not that great a shot. Which is why I prefer to play as a power-based class. I was always curious how soldiers dealt with the final boss fight. Now I know, at least a little. The Mattock, though, was an incredible weapon. (Better than the ME3 version, IMO, just like the ME2 viper is better than the ME3 one.) I really love the thunk-thunk-thunk of the thing, though I didn't get to hear it that much since I almost never shot my guns when not using Adrenaline Rush. And with the 7/7 assualt rifle upgrade, the penetration upgrade, and various other boosts (Heightened AR, Commando, armor/visor stuff, ammo, etc.) it was so powerful I used it to take out the Occulus with just three uses of AR. Even my infiltrator with the widow and assasin cloak could not match the power of the Mattock! Thunk-Thunk-Thunk!

Holy crap! Zaeed didn't make it onto the memorial wall of the Normandy in ME3. I guess I wasn't the only one who didn't like him.

Why is Jack considered a bit part? Definitely could have used more of her, but she has one of the better side missions (just for difficulty alone, I mean. Storywise it's so so). So does Samara. You can do both of those without Jack or Samara, but they're not as good.

She also has good content in Citadel. Especially if you're..umm.. partial to a certain ending choice that isn't complete ass.

Hell, she even gets sidekick status in their ads (link).

Well, personally, I don't like Jack smacking Sheppard right after s/he saves her. I wish there was a renegade interrupt to smack her back instead of just telling her to shut up. But you're right, she does add color to the mission, though why the alliance would let a murderer teach their students is unclear. Also, what happened to her anti-Cerberus jihad she was planning?

Not sure what Citadel ending you are referring to. I just got it the other day and have thrown one party. Except for looking like one of the table dancers at Chora's Den, I didn't see Jack adding much. (I had the "crank it up" version of the party.) I take it that Sheppard needs to be in a relationship with her? Or perhaps male and unattached? (My Sheppard was already in a relationship with Tali.)

Yeah, I'm probably a sucker for punishment as far as her punching goes. Seems to be that way with real women too. Can't expect everyone else to get it. j/k Yeah, you need to be in relationship for Citadel, I think (to get what I'm referring to. It's more like a nice acknowledgement or easter egg. Nothing too significant, but worth checking out if you ever play again).
