It does. It's like they're trying to copy the Marvel template, but doing it on the fly with no forethought.

They are trying to copy Marvel, but it's going to backfire on them because there trying to rush through it

Sorry, I loved Man of Steel and Snyder is one of my favorite directors.

Him getting to help shape the new Batman, and Batman being in the next Man of Steel movie?

This is such excellent news!

This movie announcement is great news. I'm sure the story they will tell will have something to do with the destruction superman and the kryptonians caused in man of steel. Batman and lex will team up against the unknown alien. (Lol, just a simple fans wish) anyway it should be a great movie.

Imagine a Batman who came to be because of the Destruction left in the wake of the Kryptonians?

Just a thought. It won't be what they do, but it'd be interesting.

They should've did instead was: Superman sequel, new Batman movie, Superman/Batman movie, then the other Justice League founder movies, and then Justice League

It's far-fetched but an Avengers vs. Justice League movie would be sick.

They're already announced that. It's called Rise of Ultor, I think?

No, I disagree.  I think this is brilliant on their part.

1 - The comparisons continue to be made that WB is copying Marvel's strategy. So WB should go out of their way not to.  Because, prior to Spider-Man, Marvel had no successful big budget movie (arguably X-Men, which I love... Blade doesn't really count) wherease DC had both the Superman franchise and the Batman franchise.  WB doesn't need to copy Marvel, it needs to do its own thing.

2 - The amount of gnashing of teeth and pulling of hair that will come from the die-hard Nolan Batman fans that the Bale Batman is done will hurt any new Batman film.  Add to that the mainstream audience's confusion at a new Batman, at any underlying reasons for it, and their reluctance to go to reboots so soon after last films in the franchise ended... Amazing Spider-Man, arguably a better film than Raimi's first Spider-Man (arguably), suffered from a lot of "too soon to reboot!" sentiment.

3 - Man of Steel was a HUGE success.  Tons of people are already ready to go to the sequel.  It is, perhaps, the best way to introduce the new Batman - in the context of the world that Man of Steel set up.  Easier to not continually compare a new Batman film to the last few Batman films if Batman is instead in a Superman film.

4 - Budget.  One film is cheaper than two.  Introducing Batman inside of an almost sure-fire Man of Steel sequel box office win is better than risking a Green Lantern-performing new Batman film.

5 - Justice League going forward.  Superman and Batman becoming allies (surely what the whole point of this film will be, as it is almost guaranteed that they will butt-heads initially in the movie) before an actual Justice League movie helps to prevent Justice League from copying Avenger's model of "all the heroes at each other's throats" dynamic.  The JL should be heroes who band together and work together almost immediately, to help contrast the very real differences between the JL and the Avengers.  But Batman and Superman still need to adjust to each other, and it's better that doesn't steal the show of a JL movie.

---

Overall, since this was announced, I cannot fathom it being done a different way.

Age of Ultron.

Which almost guarantees Ant-Man.  As, you know, he created Ultron.

Considering it was announced with a Dark Knight Returns quote, this won't be a Worlds Finest movie, it'll be another Bat-worship film with Batman beating up Superman.
So I'll be wary of this project.

Uhm, Snyder went out of his way to say that this is NOT Dark Knight Returns.  They just chose a memorable, recognizable quote to introduce the concept of Batman and Superman together.

Assuming anything MORE from the reading of that quote is sheer speculation.

That said - Snyder did 300, Watchmen and Sucker Punch - he is NOT going to do a Batman-worhsip film that is so ridiculous as to have the world's greatest detective beat the man of steel.  I feel very confident in standing by Snyder and believing that we aren't going to see him humiliate his most successful property to date.

Yes, this.  Nolan is only an executive producer now.  Meaning he's a figurehead.
