Is there a Templar Armour set?  I have the body and head sections.  Are there gloves and boots?

I'm a tad dissappointed in Holy Smite.  It reads like it's a Mana Clash but it only stuns.  Maybe I just need more willpower, but it doesn't seem to effect and enemy mages.

Has anyone else had this problem?  Also Cleanse Area seems to be kind of weak and useless.  It needs to have like a duration period of like 5 seconds or until you run out ot stamina.

The boost in Mental Resistance just doesn't seem justified enough to choose this specialization imo.  I basically have just been using Holy Smite to stun if I get surrounded sense it seems useless on mages which I thought that's what it was meant for.

...prior to making my Templar I tested out Holy Smite and it seemed pretty useless. I have only taken up to Cleanse Area so far and will only pick up rest when I have spare talents levels 22+. Cleanse area seems to have difficulty getting rid of Hexes, which is really the only reason to make it worthwhile!

...but the 84% spell resistance I now have is sweet enough to make Templar worthwhile! ...and no there's no set for knight commander armor...gloves of diligence & some good boots work well though (warden commander's, cadash stompers or others!)

Grab Mental Fortress, it's +20 Mental Resistance.  I barely use Cleanse Area any more.  I pretty much only use Holy Smite to stun a group of enemies.

- Where can you see your total Spell Resistance?  Or is that something you manually add?

I still am kinda confuse on Spell Resistance vs individual resistance like Fire Resistance rating.

Unfortunately they forgot to add a spell resistance % to your character chart

Spell resistance means that you completely avoid the spell effect, while mind/fire/ice etc resistance is an integer number defining how much less damage in percentage you take from a spell.

For instance, someone casts fireball on you. First check is against your spell resistance, if you resist, you get no damage and no knockdown (while the secondary DoT effect may still apply). If you get hit instead, you are knocked down and your fire resistance is checked. If you have 50 fire resistance it means you get 50% less damage than a character with 0 fire resistance.

Cool, thanks.  I'm probably gonna change up some gear then.

I did some more testing with Holy Smite.  It actually isn't all that bad.  I just went through Bracilian Forest and it worked really good going through the ruin place inthe tunnels.

When you get a pack of Warewolves or Skeltons beating down on top of you Holy Smite will get Spirit dmg and pretty much stun everyone in the radius.  I was getting 20+ spirit dmg on pretty much every enemy inthe radius.  I'm not sure if that dmg would increase with a higher magic score, but it worked quite well.

So now the first thing I do is drop Holy Smite on the crowd s soon as they group around me.  It can be good for any tank.  Also it has been interrupting bosses from spell casting so that is a plus.

Revenants will shrug it off though.  If a higher magic score does increase the spirit dmg you get from Holy Smite, then it could really be effective.  I forget what my magic score is, but I know it's low and I still get 20 dmg per enemy with it.

OK, update progress....

...using as little money to get by, and good team tactics (party = Shale, Morrigan, Leliana), I was able to pick up  Anduril's Blessing by ~level 14, and getting the Lifegiver ring on completion of Orzamarr.

As a two-handed warrior (templar-berserker) I raised strength to 42 as fast as possible, then after that have been putting points into Willpower, Dexterity & Constitution to get them to 32, 32, 22 respectively. This gives me plenty of HP (with Lifegiver ring) and my armor value of 39 helps mitigate incoming damage, though defense is pretty bad! With so much Willpower & item boosts, I can have Precise Striking, Indomitable & Powerful Swings persistently active meaning I'm damaging 80-100 on a regular hit and up to 125 on a crit which is at 20% chance!

As I'm finding things pretty easy with this build on nightmare, I'm only going to increase Willpower from here to see how high I can get my single damage hit, currently standing at 263 damage!!!

For equipment, I'm using:

Starfang (Grandmaster Flame/Paralyze/Dweomer), Bergen's Honor, Knight Commander's Plate, Gloves of Diligence, Dragonbone Warden Commander's Boots (aquired at tier4, sold & rebought to tier 7), Anduril's Blessing, Spellward, Key to the City / Lifegiver

...enjoy...krs

Don't waste points into Magic! Here is the calculations for Holy Smite

Area of Effect: 5ft. Spirit Damage (100.0 + Willpowe) * 0.2 to all hostile targets in the area of effect.
Drains Mana from target (100.0 +Willpower) * 0.4 and damages it with Spirit for (100.0 +Willpower) * 0.2.
Stuns target if it fails physical resistance check against Templar's Willpower for 10.0 * (Target Rank Duration Modifier) sec.
Knockbacks others in the area of effect that fail physical resistance check against Templar's Willpower.

Well I don't have a true or natural character build at this point becasue at around lvl 18 or 19 I did the Urn of Sacred Ashes.  Then afterwards I wanted to test the lvl cap and see what would happen so I exploited the xp glitch by the highdragon section.

But before then myself and my team were a complete wrecking crew and we just plowed through the Urn of Sacred Ashes.

Anyways my final setup:

LvL 25

Str     66
Dex   45
WP   32
Mag  22
Cun  23
Con  43

Mental Resistance - 50
Phy Resistance      - 82
Spell Resistance   - 62

I have every ability filled out.  I went Templar/Reaver.  I had to put the extras into Bow & Arrow Abilities.

Weapon - Starfang (3 Master Deworsome Ruins 8% Spell Resistance Each)
Shield - Havard's Aegis (Had the the entire game almost - Haven't gottan Fade Wall yet)

Helm of Honnleath
Blood Dragon gloves/plate/boots
Andruil's Blessing
Spellward
Ket to the City
Lucky Stone

- I do have Tempalr Armor with me if I need it, but I find the additional bonuses that Blood Dragon Armour gives me is worth wearing.  Plus I get the set bonus even wihtout the helmet.

Team: PC - Warrior, Morrigan, Wynne, Shale (Although I throw in Ohgren Sometimes)

I still have to finsh the game and I'm savign the queen right now.  I do not see any problem and will probably just bulldozer my way through.  I am on "hard" setting.  My next game will be on nightmare for sure.
