It would have been waste of time for me if I needed any credit from the game.
The next game filled really quick & was really fun.

As a host, I knew what I was doing. I also didn`t want to abandon my own lobby with 3 people who pressed ready which is like giving them clear message of GTFO ma face.

I didn`t entirely give up the game. I just wanted to see if they go past wave 3.

I am sure I could have done lots of things differently.

You are missing the point. I am not a saint, I wanted to have them work for their own credits and couldn`t care less about everything else in that game.
I `ll give credit for drell assassin guy for trying though. Wish I could have helped him, but I highly suggest him to use consumables with his current skill level.

Why that much drama? Lobby leader should take every game as a solo game. Don't rely on anybody else. If somebody joins the game - fine, he/she will take some enemy fire and the game may be somewhat easier for you, but it is still a solo game for you. There's no point in complaining about teammates. Put on the gear and equipment that you need for a solo game and don't bother what other players have. I don't. I usually start all my plat games alone and teammates join during the game. I really don't bother what they have.

... I rarely don't top topscore in gold PUG's, and u know what? i NEVER put Equipment on, i ony use level III consumables on Platinum.
I'm surprised that ppl still thinck that consumables are mandatory on gold. Ah yes, and by the way, sometimes i dont put consumables on plat (while using TGI of course . guilty of that), and still succeed and top score.
So all ur rant about HURR DURR EQUIPMENT PLZ is kinda pointless, and what u did by not helping ur team at all was shameful. /rant

You shouldn´t. Usually I have one person from my friendslist in my games and before I start, I always check if they have a tolerable layout ( no adepts with javelin and typhoon or something similiar stupid ) and if they at least put on level 1 consumables or at least a level 3 ammo power, becuase they come by the dozens from equipment packs and recruit packs. If they have not, they get a quick note via mic and if they don´t change, I votekick them. Simple as that. And STILL usually you have two PUGs in your game who play like it was their first game, ruining spawn control, nuking enemies behind the objective, so they appear in fron of it and have no situational awareness at all.

1) You seem to be a good player, but
2) You lack insight.

NOBODY can tell from when you join a lobby if you are good or not.

On Gold, level 3 consumables can be a life safer and it makes the match go faster. If you are to cheap to use level 3 ammo power, just because you can´t be bothered, then what do you safe your HUNDREDS of ammo powers for?

World war Z? Do you expect them to be used up in your lifetime by hoarding them? You know, you can´t be reborn with those in your account, yes?

I always votekick slackers with no consumables equipped for exactly that reason: Gold PUG games you should expect the worst and hope the best and it just common decency to use consumables which do not cost you anything anyway, since you get them in your packs no matter what you buy.

Not using consumables is like trying to run 100 meters without breathing: Yes, you probably can do it and NO it is NOT a pleasant experience.

Edit: Seeing as some Gold games fail ( as for example the one reported by the OP ) because nobody equipped consumables, how can you even stand by your point that you deem them not mandatory? Just because you can solo Gold games does not mean everybody out there can.

 A few days ago a friend of mine, had a similar experience in the lobby (UUG might have been even UUP cant remember)... anyway in came human vanguard with predator and katana, strength enhancer as equipment and some useless gear (could be expert package). 4th player was some quarian male engineer also with low weapons (think mattock II) and low gear and only 1slot with level 1 assault rifle amp.Now we were not in mood to carry so we tried to kick the vanguard out of the lobby - with no success since the quarian did not play along. Instead they tried to kick the two of us. 

Since there is usually a lot of trouble involved joining each others lobby (like restarting game - thanks to origin), dissolving the lobby was not an option.
Well after waiting like five minutes and no signs of the two guys to leave my friend messaged me:"Take off your equipment - we are going Bronze"

Well she switched the difficulty and off we go Bronze ftw:devil:.

Now 12 min Bronze game for a change i think the vanguard died at least 2-3 times per wave in the process, but full extraction! - and everyone was happy 
 
... well the vanguard left the lobby after the game probably was not so happy about the credits and the other guy did equip some better weapons and some decent gear and equipment as a result for the next game .

Not everyone likes or has the ability to solo. The game was made and intended for 4 player co op.

A level one consumable wouldn't make that much difference at all tbh. The classes that entered the game should have been more than capable of handling U/U/G without consumables. Its the quality of the PUG that is the win or fail. Even if they did pack a consumable a poor player will have to spurn it early just to survive. I don't understand why the presence of a consumable or even a low power gear item would be cause for a player to either join or bail on a game. Don't mean to sound off, I just naively assumed that people play for the joy of it and didn't read that much into things in a lobby. Surely the glory of carrying 3 powerful classes through an entire gold game would be pretty satisfying. Maybe I haven't clocked enough hours to become unsettled by PUG's not packing gear on Gold. Anyways, interesting experiment. I'm more inclined to save my consumables if others aren't packing and leave it at that.
