now im gonna try not too post alot of stuff cause that can be very annoying to people granded this game has been out for so many years but still its annoying never the less

im having trouble on picking what kind of warrior i wanna be i have two save files of Origins of me being a shield warrior and the other is me being a 2 handed warrior they were both fun now im finally in DA2 and i have no idea how i wanna start this off since things changed so much !

from what videos i watched Shield Warrior really seems like it lost his strength but the defense if very wonderful and as for the 2 Handed still looks powerful but other then that . . it looks alot more flashy lol

now i enjoy both classes don't get me wrong im just asking which one would be great for me too start this game off? i know nothing about it , im playing it on nightmare so would be ideal for me too play it safe and be the party's tank or they the heck with it and go all out with the greatsword?

The main problem with nightmare is friendly fire. Because of their reach, greatswords can be very dangerous to your party members on nightmare.

Anyway, regardless of your party composition, you'll need lots of careful micromanagement.

Not just 2H weapons, any talent (or spell) with an AOE component.

Giant's Reach in particular can make 2H warrior a hazard for your party.

As you plan your tactics, it is always advisable to take a look at the various talent descriptions such as Scythe or Bursting arrow.

No man! with the latest patch this is no longer an issue!
2h basic attacks deal no Friendly fire.
My opinion:
2h warrior synergises well with Mages :brittle,
1h warrior synergises great with rogues and the fatiguing fog or confusing fog.. 2 great abilities.
I personally in my current nightmare (my first time in nightmare) play with 2h hawke isabela, varic and anders OR isabela meril anders.
I have not put talents of ice-fire spells and it really works.
Though i think ice spells are just the best spells in da2.

Be sure to change the default tactics to your own. Default tactics are lame!!!
Ranged behavior for varic and anders
I speced isabela as a savy and miasmic flask, fatiguing fog, confusion fog and i fiond them very usefull.
For varic i use goad, armisticide bianca tree
and for anders i experiment ewith electricity spells, crushing prison, that defensive barrier stuff and and healing spells. That aura that boosts attack power, critical dmg etc is really mandatory for 2h warriors.
ALSO sunder on 2h warriors is NO longer bugged.

It sure is for me, Fenris killed Merril just last week.

2h basic attacks deal no Friendly fire.

Basic attacks? What about talents?

Platform differences presumably.

warrior 2h talents Ofcourse deal friendly fire!! It is nightmare difficulty!
Do not use mighty blow or scythe mindlessly.
Whirldwind is best used when hawke is alone while isabella of fenris fightd another group.
Once i got into nightmare difficulty and realised i had to think before i act or that i had to move way companions and position them for my plan i cannot go back to hard anymore.

I did talk about talents and not basic attacks.

Yes, it was that particular patch (1.3 on the PC) that brought a lot of balance related changes. Before that, friendly fire applied for basic attacks as well. Must have been real sticky.

Depends on difficulty. You may want the survivability of a Shield & Sword on Nightmare, but anything less than that, I'd say just go 2H for the DPS.
