I highly doubt a guard covering for, and participating in the activities of, a serial killer is acceptable in the DA universe.

Highly doubt it. Unless the killer is a noble, but even Hawke isn't a noble until later in the game :)

Plus she had red hair that she sometimes wore in braids as a child and when she ran around the village they streamed behind her as all the little boys ran away screaming for mercy...she was a terrorizer! And that goat she wanted for the dowry? In reality, she wanted it so she could sacrifice it on a harvest moon, strip down to her smallclothes, cover herself in blood, and run around Lowtown doing demony things! And...and she often enjoyed eating toast covered in peach marmalade in the morning and EVERYBODY knows that this often used to settle a person's stomach after a night of drinking the blood of innocent children!

She was a red-headed, blood-drinking, running around in her small clothes at midnight, demony-doing terrorizer! It's so obvious. Once I was blind, but now I see!

Aveline just want to be someone influential in the city, she use Hawke, and she also jealous of Hawke. Not many who realize this.

She's not Ferelden anyway, she have no ties with the refugees, she seeking for her own survival in a foreign city, and foreign friends. She want to become the guard captain, she want tomarry Donnic that will give her security. She also want to mess with Arishok and so it could be a leverage to rise her name as the most greatest guard captain. She underestimate the Arishok. She want to use Hawke influence to deal with Arishok. She done that even it is not the Viscount order. And that lead to Qunari attack and many innocent lives lost.

She don't care about anything other than her own advancement

I know what the thread is about. Its a pointless thread that really has no relevance to the next game. People are arguing about points in the game they NEVER had control to begin with.  This thread only proves one thing...the lack of game information is making people desperate to the point that they are arguing over aspects of two and a half year old game.

Eh? It's explicitly about the tone of the next game. The OP is saying that the themes of DA2 will persist into DA:I and that one of those is the continued existence of it's moral center.

With the exception of seeing Varric and possibly some discussion of what happened to Hawke and maybe even a brief discussion on what they did to the Meredith-Statue, that will likely all we hear about.

Arguing about Aveline and aspects that couldnt be controled in the game is ridiculous.   This thread is just an excuse to bash Aveline

Um...yes im aware of that but its still an excuse to bash on Aveline and hash over things over an old game.  And yes while some themes of DA2 will persist, with the exception of some Hawke discussion, some possible Meredith discussion the next game will not be a direct sequel to DA2.  I dont think people should expect to be hearing alot about DA2 in the next game.
Its going to stand on its own.

Aveline strikes me as one of the most strongly moral characters in DA2. It was rather refreshing to have someone who used might for right and told you plainly when she thought you'd gone too far. The only thing she's guilty of covering up is the homeless Fenris squatting in Hightown and not paying his taxes. Hawke's activities were hardly secret and most of the deaths you cited were optional. Aveline didn't seek the captaincy, she just wanted to stop the old captain (talk about corrupt!) And was unexpectedly so named afterward.

I'm not sure what more security Donnic would offer the Guard Captain. If I were to accuse either of them of seeking gain from the relationship it would be him.

Most people in Kirkwall either hate the mages http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCSVezDaV2E or fear them, and right after Anders blew up the Chantry (You can thank Aveline for this because had she turned him in the first place none of this would've happen) would rise up and want Meredith to sought revenge. It's a typical emotional response from people who recently lost a love one. Anders wanted a war and he now has it. Why is it Meredith's fault for doing what she did? Anders fully provoked it by killing the Grand Cleric and everyone inside, which included babies and children.

So like I said Anders got what he truly wanted... a war. All thanks to the Guard Captain for not turning him in.

Um....Sorry but you are wrong.

Then there were the other Kirkwall refugees who threatened Hawke because they thought they wanted to Take Anders to the Templars.

Its also a naive assumption to automatically assume that everyone fears mages

And the games mistakes in development (Not including normal-neutral mages) conditioned people in believing all mages are evil.

In the mean time.....

One day, while fighting the Carta on the docks, Malcolm used magic to save the life of the Crimson Oars' leader. The Kirkwall templars
were alerted, but Malcolm wouldn't flee the city without seeing his
love one last time. He devised to meet her at the masked ball for the
visiting Orlesian Empress.

This thread is ridiculous because Aveline was written in the way she was written.   Its part of the game mechanic and couldnt change anyway. Its pointless arguing about something that will HAVE no bearing on the next game. And it just gave Aveline haters an excuse to bash her.

And yet you continue posting on this "ridiculous" thread. Why is that anyways? And since this character did not die in DA2 she could very well appear in the next game. In fact I do hope she does come only to watch her get decapitated by an archdemon. That would be a good show :)

The OP isn't bashing Aveline, though I appreciate that's going on, it's mostly because it says Aveline in the title rather than being on topic.

There's also Cullen's complaint about the citizens willingly harbor mages that escape from The Gallows. The Templars in Kirkwall were not well-loved by the general populace.

After everything my Hawke player did for this woman you would think she would be grateful for what he did to her. When he starts courting her she shrugs it off like if it was nothing. She failed to see my Hawkes feelings for her, and just when things can't get any worst.... She tried getting him to hook her up with one of the guardsmen. I don't think so!

So if Aveline does show up in DA: I and she dies It wouldn't bother me at all... after all she ****blocked my Hawke for as long as she did.

And I guess you're a feminist, right? Just because I happen to not like a partcular woman (Aveline) doesn't mean that I dislike her due to her gender. I've already discussed why I dislike her, and nowhere did I mention that I dislike her because she was a woman. Talking about silly...

Guess who that mysterious O is? It's certainly not Meredith. In fact had she known about this she would've had a certain elf with the O letter to his name executed.... which would've been a good idea if it happen that way.

Just in case I'll clarify, I would never itentionally attack Lord Raijin, he tried to romance Aveline and wants to be able to romance Cassandra. That is a man with great taste right there. Heck, we're almost family at this point, rigt Raijin?

I don't mind when other disagree with me, but when people start to call me a misogynist it becomes offensive.

I would never intentionally attack you or anyone else here. I would not go out of my way to attack anyone who disagrees with me. In fact I like it when people do disagree with me because it starts up a debate on the related issue.... like Aveline for a prime example.

Oh and I've tried so hard to romance Knight-Commander Meredith... but this woman is nothing but raw business... no social time. I tried so hard to try to get this woman to see that not all mages are evil. Too bad you couldn't convince this woman, and taken the peaceful route  :(

The staffs at BioWare better make this up by giving us romanace options for Cassandra <3:wub:
