The problem.
I finds it.

yes

Op you should use the juggernaut, krogan vanguard, ghost, aui, or the destroyer.

Then use a shotgun.

NO! Don't say this to a new player. There wasn't any of that fancy things in my time and I survided. It's a bad practice, you start with OP characters, later you can't deal with weaker characters because you was too lazy in the beggining and rely entirely on stronger characters

OP, start from the start, with the basics, things that you are used to from the SP, basic humans would be a nice choice, just to get used with the MP. Don't worry about score, worry about helping the team and staying alive. Most of them have better equipment than you and surely will have better score, just do your best and learn how to deal with each situation.

Thanks for the suggestions and tips guys. Really appreciate it.

One last question: What packs should I buy? Right now I'm looking for weapons so I'm just purchasing Arsenal packs, with a few Premium Spectre packs.

Recruit packs until you max your common weapons. It won't take long, they are only 5k and are solid enough on bronze (and even silver).

You will want to stay very aware of your surroundings. That is number one rule.

Though, honestly, it's the practice that comes with playing for a while.

Time rewards the dedicated.

You won't need rare weapons on Silver, but maxed
uncommon weapons will help you play Gold should you ever want to move
up. So really you should buy Veteran Packs. You can get 3 every 2
matches of silver and theoretically you will slowly level up some
uncommon gear, and your common and uncommon weapons mods, which can really help.

I can see the appeal of buying the expensive packs though.

And you actually have some decent weapons. You don't need high level versions of the black weapons and both the Sabre and Indra are pretty good.

Score. 40K is fine in silver. You might be bottom but you are pulling your own. Basically if at the end of the match you can look back and ask yourself if you were contributing then you are probably fine on that level. If you feel like you can hang in Silver then play silver.

Re: Vorcha Engineer. Some characters are much better than others at scoring. They have powers that tag a lot of enemies and power/weapon selections that get full kills or get the final kills. The Vorcha Engineer is not one of those characters. However do not listen to people who say it is bad. It's actually a pretty solid character. The health regen is awesome and quite forgiving. You don't even need to put much into Bloodliust to make it worth it. Unlike his Vorcha friends and the Krogan Warlord (the other characters with health regen) he operates at range. All his powers are work at range. This makes you safer.

Rceommendations: Submission Net is his best power (after an obligatory 3 points in Bloodlust) Damage, Slow and Electric Pulse is really the only way to go. Duration is pointless because the duration you have is long enough to line up a headshot or empty a clip into them. Submission Net is next to useless against Armoured units though. It does hit them and it does do damage, but it will not stop them and it will only stagger them from the electric pulse if it is on someone else. Incinerate and shoot is your best friend against Dragoons for example.

But ultimately I think the best advice is to learn your characters, learn your enemies and learn which weapons  work for you. A friend of mine is terrible with auto weapnos but great with single shot stuff. I am mostly the opposite.

And yeah MP really is a different beast to Sp. Cover is less advantageous and the maps are circular so you always have to watch your back instead of always moving forward.

Max your common (blue card) and uncommon (silver card) weapons first. For common guns, spam Recruit packs; for uncommons,  buy Veteran packs and mix in a few Spectre packs to start on your fares (gold cards). Don't worry about Arsenal packs until you have common and uncommons at 10.

Vorcha Engineer is not a great class: it's highly survivable and alright in the hands of an experienced player who understands the ins and outs of the game, but I would start with something else. You have a Salarian Infiltrator unlocked. Back at the start of the game he was the best character there was. He's still really solid.  Here's how I would build him given what you have unlocked: click

Vs. human sized targets(besides phantoms): cloak->energy drain -> headshot with saber. Vs. Bosses: cloak->proximity mine->empty clip.

As soon as you get a piercing mod, put it on your Saber.

I just recently purchased the game over at TG when they had a huge sale. Here's my gamer profile:

This is my skill tree: and equipment:

Right now I'm mostly paying as a Vorcha Engineer

What should I be doing? How should be equipment be laid out? Skills? I can't seem to get a score of over 20k, playing Silver matches, random map/enemy.

There is no rush. You're at the learning stage. 20k is bad for silver and implies you drop a lot.

I would advise going bronze to find your feet first. Human Engineer with drone (a weak power but easily ok on bronze) will help you get used to combos. As the HE can both tech burst and fire explode, use those 2 on bronze to get used to when to do it and how to do it. During this time, pay attention to where the enemy come from. There is a pattern to it and learning it in the least hectic difficulty will greatly aid you in any difficulty

After that, you can go with a weapons class like the human soldier or human infilitrator. If you use infilitrators at the start, you'll get too used to cloak's aggro passing ability (and you might misjudge your ability to stay alive as being due to high skills). If you've already practised surviving with the HE, the infilitrator will let you learn more about cloak (not a small topic and many don't understand how it works) and with both non-cloak survival techniques and cloak's aggro passing, you can try silver pretty easily.

With the soldier, its more of finding the weapon that suits you. Some with lousy to average aim like me go for the schools of "spray shooting" and "walk fire headshots" which requires auto weapons with minimal scatter (or you can also run up to the enemy and shoot. Scatter doesn't matter when the head is big in your screen).

If you do silver, try to make sure you have some medigel and missiles (recruit packs give you equipment and random consumables). Wave 10 of any difficulty gives you the most credits. Its going to suck  for you if you had to bleed out when there was only 1 last target when you could medigel then missile (losing 15k for 5k not to mention the time for waves 7,8,9,10)

Main problem right now, you concider score as an indication of skill. Second problem, this game requires no skill beyond adjusting your aim at skulls. (not really skillfull).

Once you get those problems solved, you'll be just a rediculous as the rest of us.

Blaze -- don't buy the most expensive -- with so many common, uncommon, and rare guns to go you could spam Veteran or Spectre packs.  I have all these maxed and have taken to buying Spectre packs again and have gotten a number of UR unlocks with these.

Don't worry about score as it's meaningless. As to packs buy a bunch of Vet packs as this will get you a good base of weapons, classes, weapons mods, and gear bonuses. Once you've got a good base then start buying 99c packs. And for the love of Bob buy some JEPs every once in a while. Equipment is your friend.

you're so new to the game that I wouldn't worry about low scores on silver -- so long as the team's extracting and you're getting credits and XP (& you're not getting kicked!)

Being a NOOB in this game^^this is what Im striving for.

Blaze, score does not matter, regardless of difficulty (Bronze/Silver/Gold/Platinum). Best to get that concern out of your mind while you're still new to ME3 Multiplayer. Focus on understanding game mechanics for optimal kit builds and gameplay development, and co-op teamplay. GL & HF.

Don't use the Vorcha Engineer if you're a beginner.  It's not a good class.

When you have poor weapons, use power-based classes.  The Human Adept really doesn't even need to fire his weapon for taking out most enemies (slap that Eagle or Carnifex on him).  The Phoenix Adept is works too, but takes a little more skill to play.  The Human Engineer or Sentinel are also good.  Or learn how to play the Human Vanguard as a Novaguard - that's another effective strategy that doesn't depend on weapons or Grenade Capacity Gear.

If you want a weapons-based build, put that Saber or Eagle on the Turian Soldier.

Don't care about the score. As long as you participate in the objective waves, gel when it's needed, don't go running around by yourself, (until you feel really comfortable with the map/enemy/difficulty/kit you're playing) and that's about it. Score ain't nothing but a number.

On topic. Op, my first suggestion would be to delve into the resourse library that is stickied at the top of the multiplayer forum page. SP and MP are different in regards to powers and combos, some simply do not translate. MP is much more combo friendly. More combos = higher score.

-good hunting

Stick to Bronze and Silver.
Play Salarian Infiltrator with the Indra. Aim for the head.
