Im in redcliffe, just after all of the corpses attacked at night. My mage's attacks were not working. Sells worked but just a regular attack was being listed as immune. Morrigan was doing dammage, what gives?

Because your staff is based on nature damage, I'm guessing. It can be useful to carry two of those for times like this.

yeah it is. The information on damage is a little limited, it took me some looking to actually see that the staff was nature based. But nowhere do I see that corpses are immune to nature. Is there somewhere that helps with that?

Not really. You just have to know or figure out that undead are nature/cold resistant or immune, and rage demons resist fire and take extra damage from frost.

well that leaves us with spirit and electricity then as the clear winners?

Yep, jfrenchy. And electricity has the slight added bonus of doing "damage" to mana/stamina as well as health. The odds are that won't make much difference in a fight. OTOH, it might be enough to keep one more talent or spell being used against the party, at least on occasion.

Well not necessarily. If you have fire and frost, you are OK. I personnally go either fire or frost, and something else that does spirit damage. There are a ton of spells for that.

Winter's Grasp is a great spell all by itself, especially on Morrigan. Lightning damage is pretty low relatively. By far, the most common/annoying resistance is cold (undead), though.
