LUCKILY none of the characters in Mass Effect or Dragon Age are perfect, because that would have been SUPER BORING!

Perfect characters are often known as Mary Sues, Mary Sues are terrible characters, nobody likes them.

LUCKILY, none of the characters in Mass Effect or Dragon Age are Mary Sues, and therefor none of the characters are perfect.

XD

ME3 Shep does play battle chess with Traynor no? and lost granted.

The weird thing is Shep's brainpower seems to go all over the place. One minute really really smart, the next really really dumb.

I really hate the idiot ball.

Frankly, saying stupid things occansionally is not a 'flaw.' I don't expect everyone to be Jack Mccoy 24/7.

That's also utter nonsense. A perfect character is not a Mary Sue, and vice-versa.

And now we're at those silly complaints I mentioned otherwise.

Being 'flawless' doesn't and shouldn't mean an all-knowing all-powerful God.

There's utterly nothing wrong with deferring to someone's judgement.
Being upset at the extermination of your species is not a 'flaw.'
Tali's reaction to the romance is perfectly natural and justified.
Liara does not have a 'disorder.'

Don't use TV Tropes against David.

He'll just go in there and rewrite the entry to support his view. Like he always does.

I don't own TV Tropes. I'm not a moderator. If you contest any of my edits, you're perfectly free to challenge them. If you can attain a consensus supporting you, my edits go down the drain.

They're are still quite boring IMO, espically if that flawlessness is combined with every battle ends with victory syndrome.

If your not going to give them a physical flaw, than maybe a psychological flaw would be better, but not having both can result in quick stagnation of the story as tension is removed.

Yes they are. THe very definition of Mary Sue is that the character is flawless, in other words, perfect.

Please explain how a Mary Sue is NOT flawless, or how a flawless character is NOT a Mary Sue.

A perfect character hits pretty hard on the tickboxes of a mary sue.

Not to mention a perfect character is a terrible character.

No. A Mary Sue is a character with contrived, undeserved perfection. There's all the difference in the world between that a well-written perfect character.

Hey david, I'm looking on the site for a trope that matches an older character, mercenary or bounty hunter type turned lawman who tries to act good, but whose checkered past and own buried demons tend to come back to haunt him all the time. Prone to violent outburst and willing to go into a sort of full on "I will kill you, your children, your family, and your dog if you even so much as think of starting trouble here again" type mode to protect the people and things he loves. A good black hearted person who still has some moral compass wedged deep inside him somewherer.

Any suggestions? The sites search function really sucks there.

Perhaps I should have narrowed it down a bit. I made a list earlier. Neither Morinth nor Mordin are on it.

But it's so boring. The whole story is a foregone conclusion. Good guys gonna win (more than likely without anyone dying or if they do it won't be his/her fault because they're flawless.)

Ugh just thinking about it makes me shiver.

How do you DESERVE perfection?

Please answer that.

Or do show me a well written perfect character.

That would really depend on how successful the character is at actally being good or not.

Nah not a sue just terribly written from sequel to sequel.

She is a full blown author's pet. But so is Morrigan. Though at least the DA writers had the decency to realize everyone might not like Morrigan and thus she's not forced on your player multiple times in the story and you can insult her with her insulting you right back.

Every character, just like every person in real life, has flaws.
