Microsoft is having severe server problems because of the huge numbers of clients. They stated XBox 360 users will have intermittent problem in various areas of connectivity and function. "We have our best engineers working on it" is the official statement. S'been happening for some time, we should probably get used to it until they scrap their crappy smart devices.

that's correct, Banjo. with huge numbers of xbox users, here will be lag and intermittent problems depend on area and location, connection. AND it also depend on what router or modem, DSL, dial-up being used.

I had some terrible lag last night, but right now it seems to be working fine.

Unfortunately, there are still TONS of people in the U.S. (not sure about wherever else) that still don't have access to reliable internet or only have dial-up/satelitte internet.

Fortunately, I have cable. lol

Mine took almost 20 minutes to get off "checking downloadable content" then couldn't connect to any games, or host

although, all night last night I couldn't get to my xbox dashboard, could load games but dash home wouldn't show up. At least I was able to get into a game

It's definitely an XBL problem. A lot of posts on Yahoo answers are blaming a recent Xbox update, but I can't find any confirming resources. I just now watched the DLC load screen for about 10 minutes. It finally connected me to EA servers after that.

Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

ETA: I also tried loading other games (Rock Band Blitz, Minecraft) and had similar connection problems. I have not been promted to update anything, so I'm not sure how legit that Xbox update rumor is.

I'm in the Xbox live beta program and the latest update was yesterday afternoon or the day before. I had no issues up until I woke up today, ME3 and Halo 4 get stuck at "checking DLC". I'm pretty sure it wasn't the latest update that's causing issues, I'm thinking it's a server issue on Microsoft's side.

Edit: I've been keeping an eye on the Xbox live status page and 10 minutes ago there were 4 "problems" on the status page and now there are only 2, so they're at least making progress.
