So is there any way the new consoles will be able to support more than 4 player coop?

More players, more enemies, more maps, etc.

What's possible with the new hardware on these new consoles or is there limitations on how much can be done in ME4MP?

I think BioWare announcing ME4 being on the Frostbite engine all but confirms a much larger multi player experience.

Assuming that the PS4/Xbone will be able to match high-end gaming PCs, i'd assume they will be able to do quite a bit more.

The new Battlefield 4 will support 64-man games on the new Gen consoles... so probably.

Yup. 64 player in Battlefield 4 on console? **** YEAH!!!

I mean, if they can do it with 64 players and vehicles, destructibility and whatnot, I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to make it 8 players vs. like 20+ respawning AI. I'm so ****ing pumped for Next Effect. Oh, and Inquisition, too. Well, kinda. I feel like their MP's gonna suck.

One can hope, with the 'upgraded' hardware the new consoles are getting better - and with them using the Frostbite engine, I'd like to see things such as BF3 sized maps and massive hoards of enemies if they keep it the same style it is now.
But anythings possible, sadly, and hopefully it won't be a flop.

The consoles may in terms of hardware.

But, it will eventually come down to BW on your network connection and the efficiency of how they write the net code.

IMO the 8 enemy cap, is the main source of balancing woe. Dat  2:1 ratio

64 man games on BF2142... Good times.
Maybe Battlefield 4 will hold a candle to 2142, unlike the others.

Do we really want it though?

If they shift to more players the game will completely change. I know there are plenty of CoD and BF fans out there, but IMO the draw for this game was that is really wasn't like those.

Personally I would like to see bigger maps, more enemy types, less bugs, but with the way the game is even doubling the players really shifts the games focus.

Could be.  If you are in a game with people that have great network connections and low jitter, should be ok.

If the team is spread out across the globe with jittery connections...I'm punching my XboxOne/PS4.

It's going to boil down to network latency and packet jitter.  Latency can be compensated for somewhat.  Packet jitter is the bane of all network based technologies (VoIP, streaming, gaming).  There are like 1,000 white papers on proper jitter buffer construction.  And they still have issues.

If I remember correctly lag will be a thing of the past. Microsoft will have over 300,000 servers worldwide.

So instead of carrying 3 PUGs, you can carry 6 or 7? Gonna need a bigger more comfortable backpack.

Hmm, an interesting notion. As a matter of fact, some friends and I were discussing this last night.

8 players - 32 enimes active at once

Each difficulty would scale
-wood - 8 enemies active at once with 4 players
-silver - 12 enimes active at once with 4 players
-gold - 16 enemies active at once with 8 players
-platinum 32 enemies active at once with 8 players with higher priority on elite enemies being active

Can you imagine the level of chaos?

Dude.  8 combat drones active at once.

Can you imagine the level of AWESOME??? :o

Seriously though, I think this idea would be fun so long as playing as a big team was an option and not the only mode.  I mean, you get nights like last night where everyone's online eager to play, but you also get nights where you struggle to fill a PUG lobby.

It's not that uncommon that I'm in a party of six - eight people that have two lobbies running at the sma etime. Why not combine them?

More customization would be cool. Say if someone wanted 32 possessed abominations active at once. Maybe a customizable horde option if that's even doable.

You would be out of missles and have 15 revives by the middle of Wave 2
