So is there any way the new consoles will be able to support more than 4 player coop?

Maybe we could finally have real deal boss fights at the end of games... Like a Reaper, mega-Pratorian, Thresher Maw, Geth Colossus, Atlas the size of Voltron, etc.

It could be like Defiance or Lost Planet... But Mass Effect. We can all dream right?

Hmm, an interesting notion. As a matter of fact, some friends and I were discussing this last night.

8 players - 32 enimes active at once

Each difficulty would scale
-wood - 8 enemies active at once with 4 players
-silver - 12 enimes active at once with 4 players
-gold - 16 enemies active at once with 8 players
-platinum 32 enemies active at once with 8 players with higher priority on elite enemies being active

Can you imagine the level of chaos?

FLAMETHROWER TURRETS EVERYWHAR!!!! :D

Seriously, imagine a spawn....all 8 people toss their turrets at the spawn simultaenously.

BURN EVERYTHING!!!

Better yet, 8 Tech Armor detonations at the same time.

*whispers*  tech armor

You my boy SlimJim!!!

You know man, the more I think of it...I REALLY like this idea.

Instead of a stupid countdown timer and enemy spamming....have a real boss fight.

No timers.  You kill the boss and live, you extract.    You do not, you don't extract and die.  Simple as that.

Yep. Bioware please STFU and take my money if that's an option.

I would personally like an eight player coop scaling difficulty with the standard payout scaled like this current system is and a customizable horde mode where you can select how many enemies and what types if that is possible that would of course be optional and not have pay outs. Bonus boss fights would be awesome as well.

I think they should cap it at 8 because anymore than that it just gets confusing as chit trying to talk at the same time.

Ive always kinda felt wave 10 or extraction would be way cooler if we had to clear the LZ of a boss instead of having a bunch of unlimited nearby spawns. People have been clamoring for Harvestors for awhile... As well as the Colossus. It would be a fun way to bring back the Human Reaper... Etc. Etc. Etc. Depending on how they do the enemies/AI.. team composition might actually matter now. Like the enemy could have fortified positions which are fortified using electrical barriers, and an Engineer could disable them.. otherwise the team would have to go a LONG way around... Ditto for Biotic barriers. I could go on for days... This stuff brings out the old Dungeon Master in me.

I love it dude.  It gives the game more depth.   Imagine you need to run through mortar fire to get to the LZ (like in the SP mission).

Do you leave ManBearPig if he goes down in the middle of the killzone or do you rez him risking the whole mission?

Right Sket?!? Killer idea man.

Imagine on Platinum you wouldn't even know what the final boss could be.  Better choose careful teams now.

They could potentially do what they did with that game, MAG I think it was called.

You could have 8 people in game, but two squads of four.  Comms would be link to each squad but not between squads.  Might make it more managable.

I wonder if Bioware even hears ideas from the fans and tries to incorporate them?

I just want the idea of 8 juggernauts marching about the battlefield.

Do we really want it though?

If they shift to more players the game will completely change. I know there are plenty of CoD and BF fans out there, but IMO the draw for this game was that is really wasn't like those.

Personally I would like to see bigger maps, more enemy types, less bugs, but with the way the game is even doubling the players really shifts the games focus.

Yes...we really want this.

Change isn't always bad. If you ask me, more participants would be a welcome change. We'd see a lot less "cheap" tactics used by the opposition, since they'd have the advantage in number. Since there are more units on the map at once, we wouldn't be getting spammed by said cheap/OP enemies as often (Phantom/Dragoon sqauds).

Ditto for Boss enemies. Speaking of which, Boss enemies can actually become, y'know, intimidating again. Deploying more "boss" enemies at once was how they upped the difficulty in ME3, since there were only 8 units on the map. To me, Bosses cease to become bosses when they are the majority of what you're killing. They lose that "powerful" boss aura when they're spawning so damn often. With more enemies on the map, they wouldn't have to do that. Thus, Boss (and sub-boss) enemies can be a lot stronger next game.

And with more players, there's bound to be more teamwork going on. Just think of it; Odds are extremely low to have a lone biotic/techie. Hell, they might even include more "team support" abilities and squad racial/group bonuses. I think the only bad thing about having more units on the map at once is that they'd have a hell of a difficult time balancing it all. That, and solos would be retarded hard. Still, I think it'd work out quite nicely.

Great idea to have more players per match, as long as the diffculty settings do scale for players past 4.

As much as I complain about bad Gold PUGs; if you are in a group with all good players, Gold becomes a joke it's so easy

Why even play with 8 players if you can't hear them all?

There should always be at least a two to one ratio of enemies to players in game.

I would gladly see the death of all solos for a more in-depth, cooperative, team-chemistry-dependant, multiplayer experience.

You can solo in single player.

You could make player volume range dependant... You can clearly hear the player next to you, but you'd be required to scream to make someone across the battlefield hear you. This could also open up a character idea for a communications specialist who can be heard clearly by everyone... Like a battlefield general.

Agreed. It won't stop them from trying, but at least it'd be a real achievement.

You guys have got me thinking a lot about this now. I wonder how many new units each faction would get (assuming they were to return, of course)?

Please guys, stop it with the awesome ideas when we all know that the next ME MP will probably be some kind of "Call of Battleffect Mass Duty" where you can buy single bullets and underwear for your character through micro-transactions.

That is going to largely depend on if they stay in this cycle or go forward/backwards in time. I've always felt it would be easiest for them to go back to the Prothean cycle to start a new trilogy... Since they painted themselves into a narrative corner with the lackluster ME3 ending.

You realise both consoles have 8 gigs of ram right? That alone should've answered your question for you.
Still I wouldn't rule out a 4-6 player mode more focused on tight coop with more variety in enviroments/enemies, maybe even vehicles.
