New game incoming and as we know things will change either in a good or a bad way, the matter to discuss now is how should be the Store in the next Mass Effect?

I know topics like this has been discussed before but this time let's add our own idea on how should the store work.

I know lot of you complain about how painful the store is, yes, I know it isn't so gently most of the times, but I would love to read what ideas do you have in mind to make it better.

So, in your opinion, how should be the store in the next game?, should it be RNG like the one we have now or do you have something different in mind?

They will not to anything that's convenient for people, They will do all things to make it longer to unlock or max out stuff so players come back for more and for longer.

What do you care? Credit Hax Lolololololol...

On topic: I'd rather it stay pretty much how it is, just up the UR drop rate 5% and have more URs to chase.

As long as it's not RNG and you have guaranteed progress I'm fine with anything.

Probably this. It's a business after all so I really can't see Bioware ditching RNG entirely.

I will be flamed for this for centuries but, i think it's fine as it is now, with the exception that I think an expensive UR pack should be added.

Anyway I can change my mind if I read a better and viable idea.

I think they should keep it exactly the same, change nothing. It doesn't take long to max out one's manifest. Though I wouldn't complain if they provided more consumable equipment with each pack...or make consumable equipment cheaper. But the weapon unlock system is absolutely spot on and perfect, I hope they don't change it.

I'm not sure how I would feel about an expensive ultra rare pack...I don't really like the idea to be honest, this game is all about the grind, that's a big part and an important aspect of this multiplayer. But having a guaranteed UR pack is...I dunno...it would be a drastic change.

Pretty much this, but maybe higher than an additional 5%.

I don't have experience with online stores in other games, so I don't know any better.

This isn't actually a bad idea - up the UR drop rate as Mega suggested and let us buy specific packs for ammo types, armor slot consumables and weapon amps.

We need shopping bags to hold all our ammo and consumables.

Increment of UR drop percentages based on performance in the game. How the performance parameters are measured is critical and proper balancing should take place there to avoid abuse. Not sure if it's going to be feasible but it's just an idea. The idea is to reward players who do well without selfish actions and encourage team play.

Doesn't take long? It can take up from 600 to 1000 hours depending on luck and level played. The new game might be much hardedr to farm on or to glicth or to hack. Speedruns might be much harder to do if things get more random and unpredictable.

1000 hours is ridicilous.

They should just make random weapon drops in-game and allow for real-money auctions (where they take a fee) a la Diablo III. Characters can either follow a deterministic unlock cycle or you could just produce a dozen or so characters which are all available at the start of the game and have much richer skill trees so that they preserve the level of variety you see in this game.

I dunno, I'm not sure I'd change much of anything. I paid like 50bucks for a single player game I finished in about 100+hrs across all playthroughs, and I got a bonus MP game for which I've spent 850+hrs playing. so that's about 5cents an hour of entertainment. And I'm not done playing yet. If the current store allows them to make money to give me a fun game that I'll spend about 1000hrs playing with an initial investment of 50-60 bucks, then I say brilliant! Keep it up! Maximize your profit EA, give me more of what I want.

I'd an easier way to get the consumables that I am looking for, and maybe a slightly higher UR drop rate, but otherwise, I'm fine with it the way it is. I rather enjoyed just having a few random things when I started, and slowly working my way up to having more, higher level random things. It was fun.

I didn't care so much about weapons being maxed. I think it'd be nice if weapons had a higher drop rate for level 1s. That'd make it easier to unlock everything so people can at least get an idea of how each weapon works without the crazy grind.

I don't think a thousand hours is ridiculous. For a number of reasons. I'm still playing the game even though I maxed out a long time ago. The other thing is that...people seem to overestimate the difference between level 10 weapons and lower level weapons, there isn't a huge difference...the game is still perfectly playable even if all of your weapons are at level 5. the point I'm trying to make here is that, yes it's a nice touch to have all your weapons at level 10 but it's not essential, it's not like you become really powerful all of a sudden once you max your stuff.

This is the type of game that mass effect is - it's all about the grind. And I don't mind it.

I saw "Serious topic", then I saw "Redjohn" and immediately questioned it.

This topic has been discussed to death already. There isn't even a horse anymore. It's just a pile of meaty mush now.
Two words: Tiered Requisitions.

If a random system is not used, then an "xp" based point system with progressive unlocks is probably the most "fair" way to do it. It could be an interesting concept especially when it relates to power use. Imagine that your biotic and tech powers get more progressively badass the more you use them. New animations for leveled up powers? That could end up being sweet!
This is just one idea that could help level the field and really allow players to play a niche of their choice. The way things are now are pretty good in my opinion, but the concept above would force BioWare to revamp the whole thing.

I think it could work...input?

This is a good point and I had a similar thought awhile back:

Don't
want maxed manifest, just want to be able to use every gun. I mean is it
really so hard to make a UR gun unlock at a rare rate and then levels
2-10 can be UR? Seems like that would work ok. That would be a good
thing though, so Bioware will never consider it.

That's
exactly what I posted in the main complaint thread.  One really smart
comment I saw was that it really doesn't make a lot of sense to push new
content out that has been in development for months and have many
players unable to experience it.  I suggested precisely your solution;
that if I was Bioware/EA, I might have designed the store to have a
higher drop rate for the first level only, and keep the current rate for
the upgrades.  I don't know how this would affect their revenue stream,
and I wouldn't make the change if it meant significantly diminished
funding for future Bioware products, but otherwise I like the approach.

Diablo III is a massive RPG with tons of loot to buy and sell. ME3 is nowhere close to the ammount of equipment available and I doubt ME4 will have tons of phat lootz.

It is basically ok ignoring weapon balance issues, which are really separate.

It would be nice to be able to buy whatever amp or ammo you want though.

Isn't the loot procedurally generated anyway?  That's not really *that* hard to implement.

Allow us to buy what we want. UR rank I for 100k, UR rank II for 200k ... rank X for 1m. Allow us to buy whatever equipment and consumables we want. Baiscally remove the RNG.
