How can you get the best epilogue for each companion, except Velanna since I plan to save the city. For example, how do you get the epilogue where Nathaniel saves Fergus? I know some of it depends on who you bring to the last fight.

It doesn't seem to include every condition to get the various endings - not sure what the triggers are for the second vs. third Anders ones, for example, although Approval probably plays into it. Still, should help you with a lot.

One way to get the 'good ending' for everyone is to ensure their approval is as high as you can get it (preferably to friend status, though that seems bugged in that some stayed "warm" despite me doing their friend quest, and both Anders and Justice 'loved' my warden). *Shrug* go figure. But I always got good epilogues, even for those left in the keep, when I got affection maxed/close to max.

One more question: if you don't bring Anders with you to face the Mother and save Amaranthine, will people in Dragon Age 2 (like Nathaniel) react as if he died?

Have a maxed keep, maxed approval and completed personal quests, and Nathaniel HAS to be in your party when you kill The Mother should get you the best endings. Due to retcon in DAII it dosnt mater what happens to Anders though.
I personaly like Defending the Keep and agreeing to work with the Architect while leaving the city to burn represents the Wardens best.
JFarr74: He talks about faking his own death by putting his robes on a burned corpse and fleeing.
