Good. :( I prefer my Swamp Witch.

I'm a fan of yours, but your screename in conjunction with the posts made for some truly epic lulz.

This. Reading your post and looking at you name is very confusing.

Maybe he's the Happy Warden? Not the I-Like-My-Same-Sex Warden.

It also could have been a typo gone wrong. See: Epic Fail.

I would like to know why the hell Alistair asked me that when I was playing as a male.

I don't think it was a sexual reference.  Your tongue actually will stick to a lightpole in winter time...it'll also stick to the shelves in your upright deep-freezer if you are an eight-year-old boy.  And then your dad comes in, laughs at you, and takes twelve pictures with an instant camera before pouring some warm water on it.  LOL

Believe me.  It happens.  I have the pictures to prove it.

Yeah, but I interpreted that as "Have you ever blown a dick?"

Why Alistair doesn't realize it could be interpreted that way is one of life's mysteries.

Well, I never interpreted it that way either. ;) It was pretty obvious that it was in response to being asked if he was a virgin, so was pretty clearly a metaphor relating to that, IMO.

You know what would have been awesome?

Alistair: Have YOU ever licked a lampost in winter?

Dalish Elf: What the hell's a lampost and why would I be licking it?

When I first played, I didn't interpret it that way either because of the context he used. It was obvious what he meant, because he listed other things (bought a new pair of shoes? etc). Though it could be interpreted as other...things, but I understood what he meant.

Oghren needs to have the "Birds and the Bees" talk with Alistair, he would never be the same.

I believe he already has... sort of... :)
  • Oghren: You know what would do you some good?
  • Alistair: A pair of nose plugs?
  • Oghren: Go out, find a girl. Doesn't matter who, as long as there's no pants involved.
  • Alistair: What makes you think I haven't?
  • Oghren: I can smell purity a mile away. It's a talent.
  • Alistair: That proves to be useful, I'm sure.
  • Oghren: Not that often, it turns out. Be much better if I could smell cheese.
  • Alistair: You have my deepest condolences.
  • Oghren: Yep. So do you.

He belately realises if you choose the answer "I've licked my share of lampposts and then some!". He says it conjures up an unpleasant mental image.

LOL I love how he has this seriously innocent chantry boy with a naughty slightly pervy outlook on things. Adds to his charm immeasurably. He quite obviously KNOWS what you are asking him and he's trying to derail the answer. This is one of my favorite conversations with him.

Heh, if you think that's all he could mean by that, it says more about you than Alistair. ;)

How does that make sense at all. May seem immature on my part, but how does a redneck play a part? I didn't say "well that there dang dog darnit gay warden Alistair just stole mah dang Nascar trophy".

Well, you are using a sexual orientation as an insult which is a stereotypical 'red neck' thing to do.

Perhaps he actually is envisioning the Warden desperately trying to free his/her tonque from a frozen metal pole. It might not be nearly as lurid, but it wouldn't be pleasant.

For the record yes I have actually licked a metal railing in the Winter. No, I don't mean like sex with another guy. I was nine, there was this perfect snowflake that had landed on the railing, and I didn't know any better. My tounge got stuck for like a minute and I thought I was screwed. I survived though and so did my tounge. No lie. Ah my childhood, so young so young.

Having actually done exactly what Alistair said at the age of 5, I can assure you that it is an atrocious analogy for anything meant to be pleasant. My tounge froze stuck to the damn lamppost and it was as humiliating as it was painful. Just saying...Posted Image
