I have a feeling this is a graphical glitch, I have not been able to detect traps with my rogue. Can someone explain to me what I am supposed to see when I find a trap like a red outline or something?  I have the Deft Hands Skill and my Cunning is at 18 and yet I see no traps prior to triggering them.

This was the very last post on this forum so I wanted to bump it up! :)

I don't use a rogue in my party so I can't help you.

deft hands is insufficient for the traps... you need to level that talent up... with Master level on Leliana I've never hit a trap

I find it problematic myself like there was a radom encounter where i fought a Darkspawn Alpha and some cronies, there were a bunch of traps. I told Leliana to disarma a trap at her feet and for some reason she ran to one several steps away from her and triggered the trap at her feet. I'm like >< and lost good exp.

Sometimes it takes good eyesight (As a gamer standpoint wise) to disarm traps cuz the tripwire ones ARE HARD TO SEE. But yes you do need to up in the Deft Hands pool and have decent cunning to disarm traps and harder traps.

I am having a similar problem to the first poster here. This is my 6th or so playthrough, and I never had a problem before this with detecting traps. This IS the first time I'm starting from the beginning of Origins after installing Awakening (and also Warden's Keep and Return to Ostagar). Anyway, I'm using Zevran as my rogue, have given him 2 levels in traps, yet he still fails to detect any. Is this a bug with DLC? Or is he just very, very unlucky?

Luck has nothing to do with trap detection. If your Deft Hands skill level + Cunning - 10 score is sufficiently high, you will detect a trap automatically. Of course, you can still stumble into it if your character or one of your buddies has already been set to move into it before you detected it. I always let my Rogue go ahead of the party in Stealth mode to detect and disarm traps while putting a Hold on the rest of the party. Once the traps are out of the way, you can storm in without any worries.

I know that in Awakening with patch 1.03, trap detection by the PC was broken; they fixed that in patch 1.04.
