What are your "it just got real" DA moments?
I've a couple:
-facing GaxKang for the first time in DA:O.
-hitting the gong during the Andraste's ashes quset and the subsequent battle. I had no idea this was going to happen as I had completely overlooked it in my first playthrough.

 I just recently completed DA:O with a mod that increases the scale of the Archdemon, out of curiousity. 

While buggy, it made the fight a little bit more...yeah.

When I looted a group of bandits in the sewers of Kirkwall and found only a pair of torn trousers, a broken bow and a bent lockpick, all worth practically nothing.

I was like "wow. That is as real as it gets."

That's when the story got real for me. Man, was I surprised by that. Not that Loghain didn't come across as somewhat suspicious before, but to betray his king to the darkspawn... phew.

@Fast Jimmy:
Well, you can't beat this: if you save Feynriel in Act 2, Marethari gives you a book with "a rare magic". In game terms, it's a piece of junk. We could all add our "it just got less real" moments to this thread, mostly from DA2 I guess...

Yes, this was the same for me. I was too shy to ask Alistair to do the DR, so this happened.

Oh, and on the "things that made me smile" side: when Morrigan told me how I could survive and I found it wasn't just something I'd have no problems with at all, but something I would've done had she asked at any time, being fully in accord with her about things that are worth preserving.

End of chapter 2. Not much because of the scene at Quentin's chamber ( but this one too), but because of what happens next. It was like 'What? Game makes me sad, and I'm allowed to express my feelings?! For Real?! And the game allows LI to show up and speak?!'

- Leaving your parents in the Human Noble origin and then having Howe be all pompous about it;
- Killing Howe;
- Hespith's rhymes in the Deep Roads;
- Laeandra's death and... change;
- Killing Corypheus as a mage in Legacy;
- Threatening Wesley as he goes for Bethany with the aggressive option;
- Killing Tamlen as a Dalish Elf;
- Killing the Archdemon;

I'll add more as I continue my current aggressive Hawke playthrough.

First playthrough when mouse says "you just have to want to let me in" and I realized he was the demon all along. I was like O_O

Hearing Hespith's story and seeing the broodmother and knowing on later playthroughs as a female Dwarf noble, if Duncan hasn't been there that's what would have happened to her.

When Alistair broke up with my city elf right before the final battle...I showed him though, she did the ultimate sacrifice.

Getting there too late to protect Shianni from the rapists in the city elf origin but killing them all afterwards.

When I saw archdemon in the Deep Roads for the first time. I was like :"Oh you're gonna die you son of a b****"

Or when Riordan says he'd be the one to slain the AD. It was something like "yup, keeeep talkin'"
