Yes, this was the same for me. I was too shy to ask Alistair to do the DR, so this happened.

In DAO, When the ogre killed king calian and gave thst ear shattering roar. I honestly hadn't seen that coming, even after the retreat sounded.

In DA2, It happened twice. Once was when we got locked in the deep roads and hawkes sibling was dying from the taint. The other was when the arishok began giving his speech about how we should be grateful. I didn't think they were going to go the route with the qunari that they did, and it really did make me have w sense of dread when I failed to get the book back.

In DAO the first confrontation with the Brood Mother, I had never seen anything that ugly in any game I'd played before.

In DA2, the first giant spider. I hate spiders so much, I almost turned off the game!

Dragon Age Origins: Each origin had a moment like this. HN with the slaughter of the couslands, CE wedding, DN being accused as a traitor, DC being ousted as a fake, DE falling into a coma, Mage getting caught with Jowan.

DA2: Bethany dying in the deep roads, Leandra, The Arishok getting pissed.

Morrigan leaving my group after I refused the DR. She was with me the whole game at 100% approval

Female city elf response to betrothed dying. "Well I never wanted to get married anyway." Beginning of a really cold hearted, evil playthrough.

That scene in the Deep Roads where you walk through the halls and listen to that creepy, CREEPY rhyme.
First time Darkspawn actually seemed like the threat they always told me they are.

"First day, they come and catch everyone."

"Second day, they beat us and eat some for meat."

"Third day, the men are all gnawed on again."

"Fourth day, we wait and fear for our fate."

"Fifth day, they return and it's another girl's turn."

"Sixth day, her screams we hear in our dreams."

"Seventh day, she grew as in her mouth they spew."

"Eighth day, we hate it as she is violated."

"Ninth day, she grins and devours her kin."

"Now she does feast, as she's become the beast."

"Now you lay and wait, for their screams will haunt you in your dreams."

The bolded parts where the only ones that ever played for me. I'm pretty sure I didn't miss any areas, so the triggers must have been bugged, somehow. Not that it made the rhyme any less creepy.

Hmm, I find those rather hard to pick out in retrospect. I like to apply Varric's analogy for keeping a business to the whole of Thedas. "Turn your head for a minute and there's crap all over the floor."

"Sound... the retreat." That was the line that made me realize I'm playing an epic game.

That sing-song in the elven alianage... Seriously spooky and captivating. It still gets stuck in my head from time to time.

Zevran's response to saying you love him at the gates - that made me realize what's coming next. (Even better with Gate Kisses installed)

And then when you walk toward the gate the soldiers start cheering and... It really made me feel epic.

All of Anora's specific lines for a bethroded Warden. That was seriously amazing.

When the goddamned Harvester divided and he was still alive and I barely deafeated just the first half. I went nooooooooo, you're kidding meeeeeeee (And then the final scene of Golems of Amgarrak "I'm not killing these.")

I was pretty spoiled already for DA2 so nothing made my jaw drop... But I got all tingly when Anders first called Hawke "love"

Then, when I rivalmnced Isabela I was pretty taken aback by her response when I sided with the mages. Really did not see it coming, but it served to inspire my mage-pride even more.

The ending of DA2  (the one with Leliana and Cassandra, not Anders) caught me unprepeared, though. The only thing I didn't know and it was worth it. Got me speculating about wtf is going on for months.

3 men down during the Queen of the Blackmarsh fight, then I remembered I had a secret weapon... Out leaps Ser-pounce-a-lot to save the day, reviving all 3 and allowing us a sweet victory.

Isolde begging the Warden not to kill her son, then having to watch her do it herself. It took me five playthroughs before I was able to make a Warden who had Connor killed and I still feel really guilty.

Returning to Orzammar as a Dwarf Noble. Man, the DN was one of my favourite origins, along with the City Elf & Mage.

When we meet the Withered for the first time & the first thing we see him do is kick a soldier off a ledge, causing the soldier's death by impalement.

When I got the option to burn amaranthine or let Vigil's keep fall.
When the Mother revealed her uhm.. face..
When Sebastian turned on me for letting Anders live and practically declared war.

When I realised that one my Hawke's had no family left whatsoever after Leandra died.. (sad moment)

cant stop waiting to play as hawke in future games, To me DA got more personal with DA2.

No plans of what to play ( if) I get Da3... going around been called Inquisitor is not my number 1 option.
BUT if I get Da3 It will be an FemElf maybe rogue.. i like sneaky.
Romance's.. not sure I maybe get Varric this time ( if possible).
