So what does he do? He tries to deny that power. He makes these clumsy little posts and ridiculous complaints. Because if he convinces himself that Mass Effect is crap by shouting it enough, he's free. BioWare no longer has any power over him.

If we're doing free tarot readings, your ass better do me next.

Shit, I'm mad I didn't get to go first. Up here thinking we were ride or die friends and things.

You notice the post he made at the top of the page? Dead giveaway. Look at how he tries to inflate his own power. He wants so badly to be an influential voice steering Mass Effect.

Finding actually good, compelling stories with good characters are a hard find; especially one's that craft their own universes and don't just borrow someone elses.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but your post makes it look that because Bioware makes RPG type games their storytelling is better than other games that isn't RPG

I made no mention of RPG or simply Bioware. We do have quality storytellers in 2k games (Bioshock, System Shock), Naughty Dog (Uncharted, Last of Us) and Bioware (snark go elsewhere). But that's were the buck stops.'

I'm not holding my breath on ActiBlizzard or anyone else to do anything amazing.

I LEFT OUT INDIES. FORGIVE ME BSN.

The thing is, the Mass Effect could have been very good quality storytelling if it was properly planned out but it wasn't

But David, you know his posts won't influence Bioware in any way, nor does posting on a forum amount to anything.

I will give you that, however this as far as I know was the first attempt by any AAA to do something this expanisve and in that regard I think they did a passable job.

Hopfually they learned some much needed lesson, got some humble pie and the next IP and ME series is better for it.

What ever happen to posting displeasure about a product without it now being I WANT POWER. Really, people blame the hate for turning the bsn into a cesspoll, I blame people David who think they are all that and believe they know what other people are thinking or their goals.

Making a trilogy of choices and tying it together into a coherrent narrative (which it was haters).

Yes there were some holes to fill, some bad writing decisions (Suicide mission guys?) and of course the ending debacle but combining all of this we get what I'd call a B/B- on the narrative. I'd give the GAMES as a trilogy a 98% but the story as noted could have been better.

But to do better you have to learn. So that is why I look forward to NME series and the new IP.

I had displeasure with this product as well.  BSN isn't anywhere near a "cesspool", but if you actively choose to look for it, you'll find the negativity.  People who think they know a person based off how they come off in posts is usually hilarious anyway, no?  Like Adulf Wulf, acting like he knew who I was because I picked Destroy, same ****.

I'll take your word for it.

This isn't the first series to get a bad book on it (Star Wars, Halo, Gears of War)

Well, they were ambitious, I give you that.  But it was a mess.   So I wouldn't give them credit in that depart, in concerns to "choices" over the series.  And I wouldn't call it expansive either, since I've seen better quality and so called "choices" in past games.

Here's what's going on, Hunter. It's really quite simple.

Basic logic tells us that only someone who is insane or monumentally stupid would spend significant time complaining about a work of fiction they supposedly find worthless. We've all seen crap movies and played crap games. Obviously we don't devote our lives to them. Clearly, something else is going on.

House is upset and frustrated because he's powerless. Because whatever Mass Effect is and will be is completely out of his control. He's completely helpless. Like an infant. And it frustrates him to no end that something he cares about so much is out of his control and has disappointed him.

So what does he do? He tries to deny that power. He makes these clumsy little posts and ridiculous complaints. Because if he convinces himself that Mass Effect is crap by shouting it enough, he's free. BioWare no longer has any power over him.

Why troll?

It wasn't that bad of a mess IMO; could have been better and decisions given more weight but they had too many variables and EA as a publisher.:bandit:

Like I said they get a B/B- from me in the narrative department.

David, are you suggesting that those who still enjoy the Mass Effect games are indoctrinated by BioWare? I mean, you're talking a whole lot about forcible intellectual power here.

What the hell are you talking about?

No. When did I say anything even remotely suggesting that?

What I said is that people who spend significant amounts of time posting ridiculous insults clearly have an ulterior motive, and that it's an attempt to defy the power BioWare has over them.
