The concepts atleast keep the important immersion illusion going. Seeing the stock shot on google kills it.

Seeing the concept art for Tali's face make me glad that they didn't use it.

The concept was before Mass Effect 1 and before you had hordes of fans clamoring her to be a LI. The Tali concept is more alien because it was designed without a romance with Shepard in mind.

Romance or not, that face doesn't belong in ME universe.

Can you explain? Not seeing why not. What's so different about it from krogan faces, asari faces, turian, or even thorian..? There's room for anything it seems.

Like the series in general, Alot of great ideas just wasted away.....The reaper plot sounds kinda cool aswell to be fair, Also concept art always looks better than what you actually get.

Uhhh, you guys are missing the point. No matter how pretty the concept art is, it's still just concept art. It's not necessarily something that could be implemented. I did like how they incorporated the idea of the "lotus" motif into the ending area. Highly atmospheric.

Sure, but in the case of Tali, they didn't even try.

It reminds me of something I myself did back in highschool art class. I slacked off for a whole semester for a sculpture project, and at the last minute, I jokingly made a dracula head. I fully admit being a fool who didn't try.. I know I could do better. Bioware acts like they're proud of their work on Tali though (some do at least).

Eh, Bioware took a safe route.  Remember, she wasn't an LI in ME1 despite he fact she was originally meant to be because they were worried she would be TOO alien.  The same thing happened in ME3.  Bioware chose a stock image because they were worried about how far they could push the "alien-ness".

Yes, hindsight is perfect (The fans have stated they'd have been okay with her being more alien), but it's understandable they went with something more human.

It just looks very...generic and boring. Not much more I can say about it. Thats just how I see it.  No creativity in it at all.

Two of the LIs were a turian and a drell.  I don't think "alien-ness" was as much of a factor as they thought.

Drell were specifically made to appeal to female gamers.

I can accept this opinion, though I disagree with it, as long as we are not trying to say the face in the game had even an iota of creativity by comparisson.

Garrus was a huge shock to the devs, you realize.  I don't know where, but it was said he was never intended to be an LI in the first place, and that the overwhelming response from the fans surprised the devs.  Same with the response to his scene in ME2.

Also, the Drell are VERY humanoid, as are the turians.

Well, I'm not seeing the appeal.

But then, I'm not a female gamer Image IPB

Bioware just has weird ideas when it comes to women. Watch that video about female turians and just facepalm.

There is a difference between making a bad image and photoshopping the first image you found on Google. Bioware woud've done better using Bastilla's face model as a reference. At least I would find it funny.

Granted, Garrus was a surprise, but he was made a LI at the same time as Tali, so they knew at this point that his alien appearance was not considered a huge deal.

And turians, drell, and quarians are all humanoid (at least, bilaterally symetrical bipeds).  it's not like they made a hanar a LI (yetImage IPB)

The Shepard/VS spin could have been fun. Probably heartbreaking, too.

This, for some reason, will probably make the Indroctrination Theory Fans rejoice that someone in BioWare team has actually thought about it.

I must admit, it would have made the showdown feel less forced.

All of these images... none of them cheap sketches, mind you... and they went with a fifteen-minute photoshop of some stock image?

Bioware is just not a very intelligently run company sometimes. This is afterall, the same company that gave a robot a cameltoe.

It's even funnier because there are some actual cool concept pieces of EDI in there and in the art book. But no. Someone on the devteam really wanted the sexbot with a noticeable cameltoe and boobs.

Yeah, there was one where she looked like a proper combat robot(in camo too I think).

I can't remember the specific video. But it was one of the pre-release ones that went over alien design.

Yet females are perfectly ok with Garrus.

Maybe males are a little more shallow when it comes to the looks of LIs. I mean would you go for a turian female LI for your human male?

Missed opportunities. Some more mature themes imagined. We got dumbed down themes. Oh well.
