p.s. freezes are only with DA, all other games don't have this problem.

I already got the suggestion to clear system cache, and of course I did it (with no result as game version didn't change and crashes still occur). but if I'm not wrong system cache is just a place where temporary system items are stored by xbox, similar to Windows one. Programs updates and patches aren't usually stored there (at least on computers).
you also need to "recover" your gamertag.
it resynchs the game with the servers.
i did it the day after the update along with the clear cache, and havent had an issue since.
rto plays fine.

How do you reocover your gamertag? I am really new to this stuff, especially an X-box 360 and have no idea. A step-by-step would be really helpful if you would be so kind.

I am sure BioWare is working on this...but with ME2, I am sure they have their hands pretty tied up at the moment

Ok, here is my situation...I am on my 4th play through. My wife is on her 2nd. I have RTO and the infected patch still...thus, locking all my specializations (and hers). I am not too concerned about the specializations since it is my 4th play through. But, I am concerned about my wife's. Neither of us have an "old save" from before the bad update patch...so, are we basically screwed and should just play on? Or, should I go ahead and clear the cache? Will clearing the cache allow her to have her specializations unlocked during her future play throughs?

The solution I posted (and others have worked out) in other posts work fine. The basic gist of the thing is actually rather simple. The "spec" file, if you will, is thankfully stored somewhere out in internet land as well as on your Xbox. All you gotta do is clear the cache to remove the offending update and trick the game into going to search for this "file". Either you or your wife can load a save (apparently not an option for you) or just start a new char and mess around for 30 min. I don't know the exact time but it doesn't take long. You're just waiting for the game to have occasion to contact the servers and sync up your file, it happens in the background. Just play for a few, save your game, and quit. The next time you boot up the game everything should have come back. Simple...
Frankly, you might even be able to play with a post-patch save and just save and quit after playing for a few but I can't test that so don't know if it'll work. Old save or new char. seems to work for others.

I bit the bullet and cleared my cache. Fortunately, everything is fine. All my specializations have returned even though I didn't have a save point that was prior to the update. All I did was cleared the cache...bought a manual from a merchant to unlock a specialization...saved...exit game...load save...and moved forward. All previous unlocks that got locked are now unlocked. My wife's have been unlocked again, as well. She didn't have to do anything....just got on and played (after I cleared the cache and whatnot). Hope this bit of info helps others who may be in the same situation as us....

It did not unlock the achievements that I should rightfully have. From my playthrough I should have gotten the Recruiter achievement, but didn't. I went back to that old save but it still did not give it to me. However, I was missing a party member at the end of the game (that left), which was my earliest save.
