The water wheel and sluice gate are almost done. They still need portraits and a bit more animation work. I'm hoping to have them finished in the next day or two.

Couple of in-game shots...

And a quick video showing them in action.

Next on the agenda will be the grinding mill and a few old millstones to toss about.

Lovely work! Was wondering though, as a companion to the external mill buildings -- water and wind -- has anyone ever done the mill operation inside the building?

Oh MAAAN I would use that in every module if someone made it.

I love interacting objects. Nwn has far to less!

Great job :)

More Moving stuff is always welcome, especially if it's very well done like here :)

I've actually made something like this for my PW.  I made one for a windmill (with the source of power from above), and one for a watermill (with the source of power coming from the side).  The second is pictured below.

It still needs some tweeking though:
- the animation speed needs to be slowed down by about 1/2
- the millstones' texture needs to be fixed (I recently retextured the city tileset, and I must have used one of those textures for the millstones)

If I get it fixed soon, I'll post both versions for downloading.

<getting all...>

Superb use of flowing water (love the video), and I simply love the extra detail of the green algae on the sluice gate. Really adds verisimilitude :-)

Two thumbs up for this one...

That looks great, AD! Is that a tile or a placeable?

The Mill Stones are placeables...and are now available for downloading.

There's even a demo module for y'all...NWN conveniently already has a placeable sound in the pallete called "Mill Wheel", and the "Snow Drift" placeable makes for good spilled flour. B)

Here's an updated screenshot with both models.

Very nice, AD! Guess I should have asked if someone had anything hidden away somewhere - would have spared me much hair-pulling and teeth-gnashing. ;)

But then, since this project is what prompted me to learn about modelling in the first place, I would have missed out on all the fun too. :D

Now I'll get my beak back to the...millstone.

Making stuff is the best way to learn to do it. :)

And now I'm just waiting to see if a certain waterwheel gets posted in the near future to make the outside of my watermill look better.

I think those models are awsome phenix-rising (and yours too AD). The texture on the sluice gate is outstanding and must have taken quite a bit of work. If I was to make a constructive criticism (and had the practice and the skill) I would "age" the waterwheel itself a bit as it looks brand new and I would selectively darken parts of the woodwork of it as it looks too dry to me. But hey what do I know?

It is now available.

Tarot - Thanks for that. You were spot on. Couple of areas I couldn't add much to without having to remap half of it, but it's better than it was.

And on another bit of advice, fixed the env-mapping and added a very subtle sheen to the sliminess on the sluice gate.

Thanks, phenix-rising. Very cool, and just in time to make it into the next hak update for my PW. :)
