 No gents and ladies, I'm not here to teach a lesson. I'm just curious, when is it the right time to send an invite? As well as other things, like proper lobby behavior and what-not. Feel free to add your own do's and don'ts, as well.

Anytime! Yeah, some people might be playing other games entirely, but then you can use that invite to ninja join their games later! No, don't do that. I'm kidding.

I dunno. I never send invites, because my connection is liable to go **** up at anytime. I can't reliably host is what I'm sayin'.

tl;dr it's a free for all.

I only send invites out to friends that are at the multiplayer menu, and not in a party.

Edit: If friends send me an invite during a game, I wait until I finish to answer back.

I played with you yesterday, you're awesome so you can send me an invite anytime :P

Seriously, though, multiplayer menu is the best time, I think.

Eh, hard to tell. I tend to see them most in parties so I figure they are in a game. Don't want to impose...

I'm always reluctant to send invites because I don't want to keep constantly pestering people or intruding or being clingy. I don't know if that person just wants to pug, or if he's doing a solo or something, or if he's already playing with other people...so I just end up searching pugs myself and later coming on here to complain.

Wow. I actually feel the same way. I usually send an invite and a message. If they don't accept it's cool. The only thing that bugs me is when someone doesn't respond. I much rather get a "no", than no answer at all.

@t_skwerl:
Ha ha, I'm not usually bold enough to ninja-join a game. And I feel you on the connection issue. I always feel bad if someone lags on my host. My connection's decent, but I still do speed tests to make sure.

@HoochieHamiltoe:
That is standard procedure. But I sometimes have bad luck with me and my friends' number/spots wise. So I sort of give up llooll.

@Saints944:
I understand that mindset.

Hmmm...

If someone isn't in a party, and they have the "join game in progress" available... Is it safe to assume they are pugging and it's ok to ninja join?

The option is available. They're most likely not soloing or it would be private.

I've always wondered...

It's never ok to ninja join, unless the matchmaking system does it for you.

I tend not to host unless a couple of people on my friends list are online, people who I know get a really good connection when I'm hosting so are happy with it. So I pretty much never send invites.

There are a couple of other people on my friends list I'll message to ask if they've got a spot free, what wave they're on or whatever... most people I know in-game are generally PuGin' it when I message them so they're glad to have someone with 200+ Cobra Missiles and a willingness to use them on their team; it's not for my 1337 skillz or winning personality I assure you :P

I dont ninja join as that would be rude, I usually just send a message asking someone if they fancy playing a few games, or if they are in a party and are in a waiting lobby, will ask them if they have any spaces free.

@Chealec:
Ha ha ha! I'm not gonna front; I usually ask people how many missiles they have, instead of medi gels when they go down. If they say "I'm out of missiles", I say "Hmm, okay. How many gels d'you got?". If they have any/reply "One left!", I say "Good. You're gonna need it." llooll. On the other hand, if they say I have any/reply "I have four missiles left!" I yell "ASSETTTTTTTTTT!!!" and go charging in them save them.

On topic: I'm pretty sure you charm your way into lobbies every now and then.

@C2Dre:
Take this virtual bro.-hug, dude-bro. I know you feel this.

I read this, and all I can think about was the Geth reaching a concensus on which angle to put their boots up our a**es on London. Cheaters--all of 'em!

Messages do seem the way to go most of the time. It's hard for people to give a crap when you send a random invite; Especially when they don't know you at all or very well. This makes things a little harder for me; Shyness and what-not.

I usually invite someone to a party and ask if they want to join me or if they have room, what wave they're on etc etc. Then I get impatient and pug without them

I'll allow it. lloolll I do the same. Sometimes you really do feel like the last hope of the galaxy; Altough, being the lsst hope of three other individuals can be more stressful to me.

This is Origin etiquette as far as it goes for me.

- I never ninja join and have short tolerance for people ninja joining my lobby.
- I send preferably messages, not invites which are a bit cold.
- When I'm in need of a teammate, I try fist people who were chatting with me or asked me to play with them earlier. Also people who just started the game, as they are less likely to be in a team already.
- I try to answer every message I get but sometimes I can't. Thus I don't take it badly that some of the invites I send are left unanswered too.
- Priority goes to people who answer me first and is available the soonest possible. However I don't mind waiting 5 minutes for someone to finish a pug game.

Also I have trouble deciding what to play so I tend to take a long time to gear up between games.
