First off her is a picture of the infamous pink suit. Its from the Collector's edition of the game (seems to to be the least used)

Posted Image

Now here is the outfit I'm trying to replace it with (image belongs to ELE08 of Bioware forums)
Posted Image

With smarteck of BSN's dark AJAX armour

Stage 1:
Import Mesh:
- Followed WV's steps for importing mesh into UDK and then placing it into ME3 explorer.
- Had LOD issue (player meshes only have one level of LOD, whilst NPCs have at least three levels of LOD)
- Fixed LOD issue by importing udk for every single level of LOD. Did not edit mesh in UDK, just straight up imported

Import Textures:
- Followed saltisgood's tutorial for importing textures from TPF files. Resolution is at 2048x2048 and MIP levels are at 12(1x1) for norm, diff and spec.

Outcome:
- Ashley's right arm is transparent except for the plates. Bodysuit doesn't seem to conform to mesh and just hangs off the side
- Here are some images:

1. As you can see the right arm is the problem. Its blank except for the plates with the underlying bodysuit just hanging off
http://cloud-2.steam...40.resizedimage

2. Neck and arm issues in this screenshot
http://cloud-2.steam...40.resizedimage

3. Gameplay issues. None, but the weird glitch still remains
http://cloud-2.steam...40.resizedimage

4. AAAHHHH!. Kill it! Kill it with Fire!
http://cloud-2.steam...40.resizedimage

Possible explanation:
Suspect that some of the textures are not aligning with Mesh. Materials are just not matching. Odd considering that these textures were written for a player mesh and am importing a player mesh into a NPC PCC.

Possible solutions:
- Import N7 Combat engineer mesh instead. Has multiple LODs which could solve problem. Might have to chop of the attached helmet from the multiplayer model. Am not expert with 3DS. Might have to learn it

- Manually compare materials index between original Ajax Mesh and the one imported into Ashley's PCC. Cursory examination has revealed no discrepancies between them. Will examine again

- Texture import has gone bad. Have tried different community made textures with no change in outcome. Will try vanilla game textures to see if change happens.

- Might have to open mesh in 3DS max and overlay with materials/texture.

Any advice? And I sincerely apologize if I seem to intrude on this thread.

Took a gander at the UV. Compared them across the three models: Ashley's blue hardsuit, the Ajax single player suit and the N7 combat engineer's suit (from which the AJAX is ripped from)

Found a most interesting thing:

As you can see the default blue hardsuit seems legit:
Posted Image

So too is the N7 Engineer's mesh
Posted Image

But look what happens with the Ajax suit:
Posted Image

UDK has highlighted one of the elements in red. While I don't know what that exactly means, I suspect the UV is off with the offending element.

Also note the difference between the supposedly identical N7 Combat engineer and Ajax SP mesh. Specifically the blue material on the arms. Could this be another reason why I'm getting the freakiness.

I've don't used this editor specifically for UDK, as my speciality are ships.

But, if I have to bet, this is an importation problem with the mesh. Seeing the model, is wrong scalated ^^

Only one piece, the arm.

I'll try and get a look at it sometime today or this weekend in general in 3ds as well as with the texture. The only remotely similar glitch I've had so is with one version of Ashley's romance body. It looked fine in 3ds and Blender but whenimported into UDK it acquired a strange material or texture on its head that wrecked texture appearance in the game. There was no information or evidence of any texture or material being assigned at all but there it was and it was impossible to get rid of. I ended up using a completely new mesh export to redo the work. No problems this time and now she is in my mod.

You could just export the mesh from the game anew, deleting the broken one, and perhaps see no issue.

Are you using the svn system to keep Me3explorer up to date too?

@Getorex

Yes I am.

@Ironhandjustice

You've given me an idea though. Am gonna crack open the backup SFAR for the Ajax and export straight from there.

It works beautifully! The arm issue has dissapeared entirely. Big shout out to Getorex for fixing the meshes. Hell all I did was simple add the textures.

Opened it up on UDK. The UV issue still shows up, but am starting to think its full of sh*t at this point. Or the asymetric nature of the mesh is giving UDK some headaches

Another shot. Arm issue has been cured, but the neck has some see through. Texture caused?
http://cloud-2.steam...40.resizedimage

No gameplay issues. Another big thanks Getorex for fixing the LODs.
http://cloud-2.steam...40.resizedimage

Another picture. The neck issue seems to depend on her posture, though that might just be me.
http://cloud-2.steam...40.resizedimage

Could the neck issue be cause by textures? Or will it need some more mesh editing.

Nice looking. The neck issue is easy to fix. The original armor is for a pencilneck. Ashley is no pencilneck ;). Very small editing in 3ds to expand the front portion of the armor's neck and no more bleedthrough.

That neck issue is there because Ashley's head comes with cleavage. In any case that should indeed be easy to fix.

Here'ss some shots of my attempts to fix the neck issue. Limited tearing when her arms go to extreme lengths, but for the most part it works out fine. Big shout of thanks to Getorex

Turns out my previous edit (aka expanding her chest outwards to cover the gaps_, gave her mesh a sort of hunchback posture that rose to the back to the back of her head...especially during combat.

So I decided to try and edit the vertices directly and I encountered a strange bug. Has anyone else encountered this bug?

Before starting
Posted Image

Opened up the "Graphite Modeling Tools" tab -> Polygon Modeling -> Vertices -> Soft Select
Posted Image

Began expanding the neck area with soft select enabled (and cages displayed)
Posted Image

Expanding...
Posted Image

Getting closer
Posted Image

And Done!
Posted Image

Great! Now lets delete the head and prep for export to PSK
Posted Image

Well f*ck! The damn thing keeps crashing to desktop whenever I try to export as PSK
Posted Image

Anyone else encountered this bug? Is there a solution for it? Is it something I did?

Oh and by the way, here is the 3DS file with her head in it (just delete the head before exporting the mesh).

Ashley-Ajax-Armor-Edit1(withface).max (4.0 MB)
https://mega.co.nz/#...y2rxT8haSPftf0U

If someone could just try exporting the armour mesh (just select the head and press delete to get rid of it) to see if it causes a crash for them, I would be grateful.

I've tried everything else, but expanding her chest, but the damn thing still keeps crashing to desktop. Am beginning to suspect that the Actor X export for 3Ds 2013 is corrupted or what not.

Thanks again to Getorex for helping me with it

Here's the project page with the download links. Warning: you need the collectors's edition DLC:

Nicely done. I've got Shepard's monocle pulled out and was considering giving it to Ashley too. Perhaps instead of the clear mask. Might be something that could go with this armor too.

So this happened when I tried to mod the inferno helmet to replace the breather mask...

Hmm...suspect that I have yet to find the correct textures. Wish me luck!

Tried to replace her blue catsuit so that others could use the Ajax model (the ones whom don't have the Collector's Edition)

The problem is that the textures are shared between the Non Combat model (the one that is used in the beginning cutscene, The Citadel standoff, her Normandy scenes).

Unless we want her to be wearing armor all the time (granted Garus wears his all the time), am gonna try and stick with the Collector's Edition version.

Now I just need to find the damned texture for the breather mask used by it. It shares the Norm and Spec textures (Search BRTc in the textplorer), but when I try and replace the game freaks out. Am gonna try the Asset Explorer method.

That's the issue I run into when people want me to replace her default uniform with something else, like the hoodie.  You cannot simply replace it in one place, or a couple places.  You have to replace it EVERYWHERE and that can lead to some silly results, plus texture issues.  You could simply go for replacing her default armor with the Ajax and let people decide which armor they want for her.  It would have much fewer side effects.

Looks quite good. Very good actually.

But hows this? Am trying to give her armour a unique look.

Of course its all academic until I find the damned location for her breather mask in Textplorer.

The Pink Uniform is part of the Collector's Edition. Though it displays some interesting characteristics

- Body Mesh and Textures are unique in the sense that as far as I can tell they don't share resources with any other. They work well with being replaced via conventional methods.

- Breather Mask on the other hand has one unique Diff Texture. The Norm and Spec texture are shared with the blue suit's mask. Replacing them via textplorer (search BRTc) causes a Crash to desktop upon gameplay start. Asset Explorer refers to another set called BRTb, yet textplorer cannot find them.

Diff texture: HMF_ARM_ASH_HGRb_diffuse

Norm Texture: HMM_HGR_HVY_BRTc_Norm

Spec Texture: HMM_HGR_HVY_BRTc_Spec

Can you please upload just files?
When I'm trying to run jobs in any .mod file with textures, I got an error "Can't find AmaroK86.ImageFormat.dll", which in the same folder as me3explorer.

Updated the project to include the proper way to change the meshes. Sorry for the late response.

Its recommended you start this with a fresh install, for optimum results.

Managed to fix the weird glowing "shoot me why don't you glow" on Ashley's monocle. Except for that mission on "Leviathan: Find Garneau", the glow is reduced to more normal levels.

Its still animated though. I would be grateful if someone could confirm that it works.

Some pictures.
