Some of the surprisingly enjoyable quests have little to do with companions or the main storyline. Sometimes there are really interesting side quests which serve as a "break" from the ongoing plot. These side quests can make the player's world feel more three dimensional, serving to remind us that there's more going on than simply the main story.

I'd like to see Bioware do away with those fetch quests they implemented in DA2 and replace the bulk of those resources with a few extra side quests. Furthermore, I'd like the side quests to be creative and fun.

I'd love to do a murder mystery side quest - something that involves puzzle solving, ergo the player has to put on her respective Sherlock Holmes hat in order to sniff out the perpetrator. A murder mystery side quest with a twist at the end would be even better.

Another side quest idea: I'd like to do a quest to an observatory - what do the stars of Thedas look like at night, anyway? Anyway, as your hero is observing the stars, he/she watches something mysterious fall from the sky, hence the next step in the quest: go check on the mysterious thing (meteor?) that fell from the stars.

One more: A performance quest, be it musical, theatrical, or artistic. You have to put on a show and actually be *good* at it.

Does anyone else have ideas?

I want to see that, featuring Qunari.  :o

How about a Yojimbo quest, in which the protagonist arbitrates between two feuding factions (or plays them off against one another, depending on the moral compass of the player)? Could be sooo much fun - particularly if the devs can avoid putting mages on one side and templars on the other.  ^_^

I liked the Court-Quests in Awakening and I can see something like these work with us leading the Inquisition, but you should see the consequences.

A murder story has a lot of potential, but DA II's never caught me. There should be many evidence, some more obvious than others and you can finish the quest without getting every one. A quest where you really have to think about what happened, like L.A. Noire did it.
