Naw, not gonna turn this into Quarian vs Geth thread number 9000. Not today.
What Non-Squadmate would you have chosen to join your Squad?

Well, that depends on the Shepard. My Shep wasn't even angry with Han for opening fire on the dreadnought.
Geez. I've started fights with friends just for driving bad. Han is the closest anyone's recklessness has brought Shepard to death (as far as how the whole sequence plays out. It's a pretty close call). He deserved a more than a punch to the gut.
He's a reckless idiot, but his actions severly crippled the Geth, so it was a win.

They're all idiots for going to war with the geth again, particularly with the Reapers looming on the horizon.Necanor wrote...

Yeah, it might make sense if it wasn't during a Reaper war, and you nearly kill the biggest war asset anyone has against the Reapers. The Geth are chumps. Not cause for an idiotic holy war.

The geth were crippled before Gerrel started shooting, seeing that Shepard frees Legion. Waiting the extra 5 minutes for Shepard and co. to leave the dreadnaught wasn't going to do the quarians any harm.

Instead of just have a Batarian perspective on things, on his race which has been hit hardest, he could also have an interesting backstory.

Making him killable and such a minor character in ME1 was a mistake, since he's so full of potential. He's also a far more fitting character (being a high ranking captain in the STG and all) to become the Shadow Broker rather than Liara.
Okeer as well.
His perspectives on the genophage were incredibly unique and intersting. I'd have also loved to see him interact with Mordin and see how different and dangerously similar to one another they are.

I say that Padok Wiks is a better candidate because at the end of ME3, he is either hiding out in a remote colony or still working as an agent of the Salarian Union. If the latter is in effect, he would be inclined to leaving STG because of his beliefs towards the uplift of "primitive" species.
Or, he could be dead.
Either way, Padok for squadmate in ME4

A battle that doesn't even get off the ground until the PC is persuaded to fix it (unfortunately, that's how it's written. Everyone is helpless for 300 years until Shepard saves the day). You're the actual commander. Not Han. You're carrying out every crucial operation for them. So yeah, the battle needs to be put on hold. Hell, the PC has so much power in this situation that they can do better than just murder. They can destroy the entire race of Quarians. I can't believe it's even an option. Needless to say, it's nothing to laugh about. I'd rather just get my kicks by killing Han, and leaving the Quarians out of it.

On the contrary, the game treating Shepard like he's the second coming of Christ is most certainly something to laugh about.StreetMagic wrote...

Fair enough. I wouldn't argue about that. I'm more of an me2 fan. I just want to forcefeed bartenders and kick mercs out of windows.

Yes. Bring Padok back! That dude is awesome. The only trouble is that he strikes me as a bit of a pacifist, which doesn't make for a good squadmate. I reckon he'd be better as an NPC crew-member. He could be the science expert, like what Mordin was in ME2. At the very least, it would give EDI a much needed break from exposition duty.
I'd have also liked if instead of getting Grunt from Okeer's mission, we could recruit the other krogan, the one that was rejected for not being perfect. Looking back on it, it seems kind of unfair to leave that guy to his death and grab the generic super-soldier instead. After all, perfect is boring. The guy who was rejected for being only second best would be a much more compelling character. He would actually have to overcome his flaws to succeed, rather than coast on good breeding.

The only thin missing from Shepard's resurrection in ME2 was it being done three days after he died.

It might have been for the best if Mass Effect had gone for a "James Bond in space" with buffoonish fun instead.

I don't know. ME1 had some silliness to it, but it at least attempted to be as hard as a space opera could be.
ME2 and ME3 also tried to do that, but they failed more and more as the series went on.
Anyways, on topic, Kirrahe.
