Yes, you're certainly very eager to tell people how successful you are over the internet. How uncommon.MassivelyEffective0730 wrote...
Or how commonplace they are today? I used myself as an example for you.
I distinctly remember you making a post once detailing how you 'had' all these human females from ME. Despite the fact that none of it ever actually happened. At all.

Hey, good idea. We should be able to initiate casual sexual encounters with Chantry priests.Lord Raijin wrote...
I didn't mind the booby trap room.... but the idea of sicking one of the chantry preistess on us is far worst. To sit there and listen to her preach, and paying for it on top it off.
A chantry priestess (YES!) <3<3
A Templar from the Order (YES!) <3<3
This is my way to restore the peace between the Mages and the Templars.
Don't make me post the Meredith/Orsino romance scene from DeviantArt!

Now now, David. Let's not derail the thread with personal attacks and insults.

I don't think the player should have the ability to have sex with ten women just because their character is that totally awesome when it just doesn't add much meaningful content to the story.
I do agree with this.
If a player character is going to be able to have flings with NPCs it should serve some purpose in the story, and not just be there for the sake of an achievement or wish fulfillment.
I don't think a fade to black and see ya later really adds much depth to the game.
If casual flings were in the game I'd rather there were consequences, both good and bad. Say for example an NPC seduces your character, only for it to later be revealed that the character is an enemy agent who ensnared you in a honeytrap. While your character is sleeping and out of their armor, he/she is ambushed by an assassin sent by the game's Big Bad, and must now fight for survival without armor. Or perhaps your character needs a noble's support for something or other, and that noble isn't inclined to give it, but sex is used as a way of manipulating said noble into giving that support. Or perhaps the NPC is someone you run across on a quest, and the choice to have the fling either inadvertently causes that quest to succeed or fail. Or perhaps pillow talk with the new paramour reveals some crucial bit of intelligence your PC wouldn't have gained otherwise.
There are a lot of possibilities really. But if casual flings are in the game, it is better that they serve a purpose within the story than having them without a purpose.
Now THAT would be good story-telling.
DA:O did that. Sort of.
Leliana can join in with Isabela, and Isabela will teach the PC a combat ability. Also you can have Alistair and Morrigan do the whole god baby thing, and either one of them is a potential LI.

It's the only to restore the peace.

Might I also add in The Grand Cleric?

Honestly, I'm not overwhelmingly fond of the sex scenes in Mass Effect. And I've heard the ones in Dragon Age are far worse.
The romances in Dragon Age are more intense than in Mass Effect. The NPC's pour their heart to you (like no one else). There is more dialogue, backstory, and emotion put into the characters than in Mass Effect, so all the romances have meaning.
With Alistair, you learn how this bastard heir to the throne was abandoned by his father, treated like a dog by his uncle, and his mentor just died of betrayal. Throughout the game he's overly emotional, sometimes hypocritical, but (if you're his friend) looks to your character for leadership.
The romance with him is cute. He shyly gives you a rose to which he cries if your eject him. You can be the aggressor in the relationship, demanding sex, even insult him for 'not being ready', etc. Or you can let him take the lead by allowing him to take his time, and present you with the options.
Tis' a nice romance. You can even make him King, as well as marry him to be queen (if you have the right Origin).

I'm not relating my success or kill ratio here: I'm simply stating how I approach the matter. I've been shot down in flames more times than I care to remember. You're quick to turn this against me out of malice though aren't you?
As for the second point, you're probably lying. If I did say such a thing, I probably also mentioned that it was nothing more than headcanon and characterization for my Shepard.
Or does that anger you that my Shepard isn't the heroic type?

If you're talking about the choice to include brothels, it helps that there are male prostitutes, too.

If the PC is female, the consequence is having your love interest sleep with another woman if you romanced Alister.

I'm not sure what's sexist about that. Unless you mean the part where Alistair does it anyways if he's in a romance with you, which is totally in his character.

As I understand it, if the PC is male, the consequence is either sleeping with your own love interest or sleeping with another woman in addition to your love interest. So basically, no consequence at all, besides having the kid.

And the player can refuse that choice

The only one who really gets lumbered with the hard luck is Alistair.

This is optional. Tis' what you would call the 'renegade' path. It's a ritual done for the witch to concieve a child born with the soul of an ancient god. The soul of the Archdemon (final enemy/boss/leader of enemies) will transfer to the child when it is killed.
It's the anti-hero ending.

Of course, the dark ritual is far from "casual" anyway.
