(clarification: the title may be tongue-in-cheek, but the suggestion itself is not a joke)
Image IPB

We didn't get to play a Towers of Hanoi minigame in ME2, ME3 or either Dragon Age game. I think it's time for this BioWarean classic to make a return in DAI. The reference in the Citadel DLC made me chuckle from the self-referential comedy, but at the same time I was a little sad I didn't get to play. It gives me this nostalgic, fuzzy feeling.

Is the Towers of Hanoi minigame something you'd like to play again in some form?
Discuss! =)

Well, I wouldn't mind puzzles of any sort  in DA:I. But I'd have some riddle games too.

Since this game is focused on exploration, I hope there will be an optional (but plot related) mega-dungeon which is super hard and tough to beat even on easy difficulty.

WITH puzzles of course. More puzzles is always good.

That's a no-brianer for me. Personally, I'd like to see Andraste's tomb meets KOTOR2's Korriban Tomb of the Past.
Riddles, some fighting, puzzles and meeting characters of DA universe (e.g. Warden's or Hawke's companions, important characters etc.), maybe getting to know more of the Inquisitor's past.

That'd be great.

Wasn't the Tower of Hanoi buried in Haven's cemetery, unloved and unmourned?

I had to google it and then it kinda reminded me of those barrels in DA2.

While I would love more puzzles, a Towers of Hanoi puzzle is likely to make me want to break out the murder knife. Despite my general dislike of riddles, I wouldn't mind some of those either, as long as you have to type the answer in, and not just pick from a few answers, as that makes riddles kind of pointlessly easy (I realize the likelihood of this happening is slim to none.)

But definitely lots more puzzles would be a good thing.

You've mentioned the riddle objection before, but I find it confusing. Shouldn't it be like a persuade option from your POV? Your character has the right skills and stats, can solve the riddle, lacks them, can't?

It'd be cool if the riddles could be solved by the player (get us to play the game ourselves) or by a Star icon that would only show up if our character had enough Cunning. A Tower of Hanoi puzzle could be solved the same alternative way (with yet another solution similar to "slapping omni-gel on it" for those who don't run high-Cunning characters).

I hope this is a joke thread. Didn't you people complain about the tower of Hanoi puzzles back in the day?

No wonder we get no progress...anyway if you want to put puzzles in the game, lets try ones that are less about timing or proper sequence pushing (which is fine but gets redundant) and more about words and interaction. There are other puzzles you can throw in, maybe a knights and knaves variant, more nonograms, even questioning suspects to discover the "truth" for a reward of some sort.

I'm up for all of those. Questioning suspects and things like that are amazing. There's entire games made out of that, such as the Ace Attorney series.

And no, I didn't create this thread to make a joke. It would certainly bring a smile on my face to play a Tower of Hanoi game in DAI.

Puzzles in my RPG?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Ah who am I kidding? Origins had a few interesting ones. Adds something new to gameplay as well besides all the talking, combat and exploration.

I LOVE puzzles in my RPGs. Love em. Have I mentioned that I love puzzles, riddles, and minigames that aren't dependent on dumb luck or pressing the button at the right time?

Anything in a game that requires me to think rather than button mash is good.

Now, the Towers of Hanoi, used to death in Bioware games. But there are SO many ways to incorporate puzzles and riddles into DA3, and make them good. One of the things that disappointed me the most about DA2 were the shameful, sad state of puzzles. The two we had were shoved in a corner and almost an after thought, and one of them was frustrating enough that I'd wager that most people didn't bother with it at all.

GOOD PUZZLES PLEASE.

I don't like puzzles. Sorry, but either they're easy and I feel no satisfaction in beating them, or they're too hard and I find them frustrating and/or boring.

If puzzles are in, I think I should be able to ask my companions to do it. And not get punished particularly for that.

I strongly approve of puzzles. Even now it seems strange to pick up a game noted as an RPG and not encounter any of them. For a long time it seemed that such mini games were just part of the RPG experience. They were typically essential to acquiring the most powerful gear a character could obtain.

no thank you.

They're always too vauge and too iritating to solve. Video game makers haven't figured out how to make a good puzzzle yet, so I'd rather not see it in the game.

Yes please, puzzles and riddles. Even whole (optional) dungeons with no or minimal combat and just more and more challenging puzzles. If you can have dungeons filled with high level boss battles, there can be dungeons filled with high level boss puzzles. And no puzzle level can truly be said to be complete without the Towers of Hanoi :P Also, investigate quests, Like that on .. Dantooine, is it? in Knights of the Old republic where you have to solve a murder entirely through dialogue and examining evidence. All good stuff, would like to see more.

NO. NEVER AGAIN. I HATE THAT PUZZLE. Especially in ME1, it didn't make any damn sense!

I like puzzles and all, but NOT the Towers of Hanoi. Make puzzles make sense!
