 "Disappeared at Sea" sounds like just the kind of Plot Device Bioware would use to have someone conveniently disappear and then return (as the Dread Pirate Roberts!) two installments later.

So Maric hasn't been confirmed as dead, and I'm of the opinion that it's entirely plausible they'd throw him into DA3. If Thedas opens up as much as I've been led to believe it does, it means that if he's alive, it certainly stands to reason that you'll be able to find him.

But in what capacity? Should Maric be brought back? Would you want him as a companion? Why did he disappear in the first place? And what would it mean for Alistair/Secret Companion if they meet again? Will Hero even care?

EDIT: Just read that Bioware's already touched on it in one of their novels/comics. WHELP that's not happening...
