I am 76 yrs old and I like ME 2 a lot, but I can't seem to be able to work the bypass and hack mini games.  Is there a way to by-pass them or will have just quit?

For hacking, there is an upgrade you can buy at Harrot's store on Omega that will double that amount of time needed for a hack. That can be quite handy if you are having problems.

Just to make sure you understand the system (it took me a little while to figure it out) there is a "code segment" you need to find listed at the top of the screen. It consists of a pattern of different colored text. Find the same color pattern on the main screen and select it. If you select the wrong one, you burn up one attempt. You get 3 tries.

On any mission critical hack or bypass, the game will let you keep trying until you succeed. If you have to bypass a door or hack a computer to continue, then the game lets you keep trying until you get it right. Well, in most cases. In some instances (minor side quests, like Liara's) if you fail, you fail.

Are you having trouble seeing the colors? Matching the patterns? With the hack module you should eventually be able to get it. As I said, it took me a little while to figure it out but I got it down alright after a while. Once you get to Illium, you can also buy a bypass module that doubles your time for bypasses.

Thanks for the info. If those solutions don't work for me, I was wondering if it is possible to get thru the main storyline without hacking and bypassing. I certainly wouldn't have bought ME 2 if I had known about the mini-game involvement. I had no problem in ME 1. I followed the bypass instructions but nothing seems to happen after I drag one reticle to its twin. Very confusing. Maybe I have a bug. Anyway thanks much.

Hmm, actually, I tried to look around and there was some trainers that could do something, but they're outdated. One solution I saw from some people here was to only use bypass when you can't really avoid them (the others are ignored) and e-mail a friend with the save so he/she do the bypass for you and then e-mail the new save back.

(ah, and here 2 vids I found in youtube with those mini-games, in case you want to give a try again, so just follow the examples :D)

(you see, you have to connect all twins!)

(in this one, use keyboard arrows to find the one that match that other on top, like cap said! Remember to not let the marker go over those ones with an "X". When you find the match, press spacebar and look to the top again, search, find, spacebar and one more round!)

And sorry for my english, if there is anything confusing, please ask :)!
