 Just a curious thought because I don't really think this has been done in their games, prior to the little "romance" Garrus and Tali had in ME3. 

I think it would be a great new feature added into the game. Some extra dialogue and clips for characters that you don't end up romancing. I think it brings in a lot of opportunity for extra character development between your group.

Sure, I always wanted Alistair and Leliana to hook up lol. I guess I can just pretend that they did.

I know in DA2 Fenris and Isabela will have a casual relationship if neither of them is romanced.

Aveline had her own romance in Dragon Age 2.

Fenris and Isabela seemed to have something going on in DA2 if neither of them was romanced by Hawke.

From the wiki:

Isabela: That night...I can't stop thinking about it.
Fenris: Well, then I'll see you later.
Isabela: That was direct.
Fenris: I thought I'd get straight to the point. Were you expecting flowers or something?
Isabela: Don't be absurd.
Fenris: Then I'll see you tonight.

And:

Isabela: So, when we get back to the city, do you... ?
Fenris: Not in front of everyone, if you please.
Isabela: And he blushes! So cute!

Of course, I failed to get Fenris in my one DAII playthrough, so I didn't get to see this in game. Still, since it's been done once, I hope it'll happen in Inquisition.

Didn't know about the Fenris and Isabla one though! I like to see not only the characters having dialogue but maybe a cutscene? 

Like, if you're battling and one of them gets knocked out and it shows the other NPC in the cutscne becoming concerned. :3

I know that is a lot of content and extra time, but heck, it's Bioware - someone has to break this into video games! haha

Ah, they already played it off with Aveline, Fenris/Isabela and not to mention Bethany has a crush on Sebastian and Carver has a crush on Merill. So no, I think DA2 already had enough of NPC romances.

I think the mix responses are interesting.

Obviously I see no harm in adding some more character development for your NPCS.

You can play as your companions, so they're not really npcs...

I'd love more romance between them though! Feels a bit weird to sleep with three of four of the companions and find love with one of them while most of the other companions stay without any action.

The romance option for the Inquisitor will be to sigh longingly.

Haer'Dalis and Aerie could hook up in BG2.  If you were trying to romance Aerie I think Haer'Dalis challenged you to a duel. Very exciting.

I don't mind romances like Aveline and Donnic or Oghren and Felsi. Not to keen on romanceable npcs hooking up. Mainly because I like to take my time in game and sometimes end up hearing romance banter between the npc I was going for an someone else. Like Fenris, his underwear and Isabela. :C

You seem to have a rather wierd definition of Non Player-Character...

are you telling me that I was playing Aveline all along??
