I'm sure we all know that if Bioware wanted to, we could have gotten a better face for Tali/Quarians then what we got in ME3.

Some concept art that was released recantly just helps to prove that.

So if in a future Mass Effect game, if a Quarian's face is seen again, should it be based on the ME3 design, or should Bioware decide to retcon it, and have a new face for the quarians?

Or should the almost human design in ME3 be the offical quarian face for the rest of the days of the franchise?

'More alien' does not correspond to 'better.'

In fact, making a very 'alien' face would be ridiculously easy.

Nah, Bioware only retcons things when it means they have to do less work, not more.

Also, I could have sworn we've had like three threads on this today.

I've to come to not care about the Quarins looking Human facially. I mean, it was probably going to happen as Quarians had human-like features to begin with as you could vaguely see. For me now the it was the execution of using a stock photo. After five years, they choose a stock photo. Not a lot of thought was put into the Quarian facial appearence.

Think of it this way. She could have been WAY uglier. I mean she could have been so ugly Shepard would have had to have put a bag on her face.

Or worse DOUBLE bag it.

While it might feel disappoiting that Tali and her race look Human, wasn't the relationship with Tali not suppose to be about looks when we have no clear idea on what she looks like. Everyone was picturing their own image of what Tali looked liked. Again, the reveal can be disappoiting butit shouldn't matter what Tali looks like. Hell long ago I was pissed because they made Tali pretty which I considered destoyed the whole reason behind the relationship.

It absolutely should matter.

Even without seeing her face, we certainly saw her figure. We saw those pretty glowing eyes. Heard that lovely voice. Slender waist. Full breasts and hips.

Yes. Appearances are an immense part of characterization, no matter how much you may have kidded yourself otherwise.

Tell that to Bioware.

They already know it. They also know that making aliens as alien as possible for the sole purpose of being alien is poor design.

They need to keep it the same, or slightly modified. There's room to improvise with what they did.

Can you imagine the rage that would occur if BioWare started rendering unknown Quarian faces everywhere with a different look than the photo? If they put all that work into everyone not named Tali?

So they should design aliens as green skinned humans with sill antennas?

It's not the design I dislike, it's the execution of the reveal. I honestly think the Quarian design is fine enough, though I prefer some of the concept art more, it's just that it is so obviously a photoshop of a picture of a real-life human that bugs me (that and when did Tali find the time and place to take that photo, it's not like the Rannoch campaign took place on a verdant grassland).

I'm going to go out on a whim and say "no", considering that the "alien" designs have to be reeled in and humanized in order to be animated effectively.

I'm for slightly modified, because that photo was just lazy

There certainly needs to be significant parallels, yes. Aliens we spend a significant time around should have body language humans can understand and features humans can identify with.

Hanar and Elcor are not squadmate or major characters.

"Squadmates" wasn't in the context of the post I quoted.
