That's the theory, and I agree with it. But you know, I REALLY hate that after having had a (solo) hard fight to the death with a brute, or scion, or else for 1 or 2 full minutes, it just takes one jerk to achieve the kill with the ****ing last shot. If that doesn't ****** you off, well...then you just aren't human :)

But I think it's the devs fault mostly, as some of those kills may not be intentional. IMO, it should be the player who damaged an enemy the most the one who should take the kill, and not the one who shot it last.

If it takes you 1 or 2 minutes to kill those enemies the jerk did you a favor by finishing it off. It should take a team around 2 to 2:30 to finish a wave.


The jerk would indeed make me a favor if he joined me at the beginning of the fight, and not when the enemy only has 2 Armor bars left.

And there are any bonuses added for finishing a round below a certain time? (not counting objectives, normal rounds only). If the answer is "No", then please stop your elitism.

There should be no assist points but only kill points. When 2 people murder someone with a total of 5 bullets fired and 1 person shot 3 bullets and the other shot 2 bullets. They are both charged with Murder and not 1 person charged with Murder and the other charged with Aiding and Abetting.

Lol. Power do the same amount of damage regardless of the weapons you use. Besides, many rare weapons can deal a lot of damage and killing a brute in 2 minutes is extremely slow even with an avenger. Should people stop killing things you shoot? Do you want 60 minutes games?

Lol. Power do the same amount of damage regardless of the weapons you use. Besides, many rare weapons can deal a lot of damage and killing a brute in 2 minutes is extremely slow even with an avenger. Should people stop killing things you shoot? Do you want 60 minutes games?

More than once, I've had a Brute nearly dead with absolutely no help at all, only for someone to shoot literally at the last chance they had, where time wasn't already an excuse because the player solo'ing it has already spent it, and it was only a few extra seconds to finish it. Please, don't say me it's not on purpose, or for the sake of speeding things up or teamwork. We all know the reason.

P.D: I way exaggerated that 1-2 minutes mark. Make it 30 seconds-1 min. I'd have to check my record in that matter, though..

A few things
i) Among the uncommons, you already have good weapons

ii) A single fire explosion will cause good damage. Most peeps have a detonator power

iii) Use ammo equipment. So many fail to use even a lousy level 1 incendiary to prime. In case the excuse is that you have no equipment, JEPs give 5 slots of equipment from levels 1 to 3 and unless you regularly go into gold+ games with no medigels/rockets/ops packs, you'll have bought JEPs or recuit packs (also gives level 1 equipment)

iv) Power based classes which are more weapon immune are valid choices

Seriously, 2 minutes of constant shooting to take down a brute is ridiculous. A concussive shot soldier with the avenger can easily take it down in less than 1 min, to say nothing of the common human infilitrator using a mantis with sticky grenades

All I'm saying is that you shouldn't care. Waiting for other people to damage enemies until they're almost dead and then killing it is no good strategy for scoring a lot of points. To be honest it's seldom happened to me and, even then, I did not drive myself mad over it. Just play the game for fun; if someone's ruining it, just leave. The skill stealing thing is ridiculous and often an excuse for low scoring. If you play properly, you'll score well, notwithstading the other players' behaviour.

Hm... no. I If there's a brute (or anything really) alive that doesn't have your name on it, everyone gets to shoot it without having to care about who wasted how much time on trying to kill it. If you did all the work, you get a massive assist, the "kill-thief" just a few points. If you want to be petty about the kill it is entirely your problem.

I guess you're right, and I do score decent scores for a Silver (been around one week since I began MP). I guess there's always the Assist bonuses...

I'm pissed off, but I won't let it ruin the party... :D

 If you complete matches in 20 minutes instead of 30, you will get that Widow CXXVII 33% faster. 

Also, 5-15 seconds for a brute is more typical than 30 seconds to a minute.  If you don't have decent weapons or an anti-armor power, you should focus on shielded mooks.

Sometimes there are people that do that but a lot of the time I don't even see the health bar especially if using a SR. Quick scope and the enemy is dead. Again nothing personal but the game is coop if you're worried about getting "your" kills you have to kill fast. You're saying the player stealing kill is doing it for the scoreboard but you're fine with saying that kill belongs to you which is just as selfish. Smooth, fun games and quick clearance times are more important to most than who gets what kill.

That's also true. I should begin dusting off one-timers. I've a good reserve of them, which always "gives me pity" to use them. Time to get rid of that Diogenes syndrome :D

I lol'd, and it's funny because it's true.

If it's alive, I'm shooting at it. Period.

I remember once leaving the last banshee in the wave to three team mates while I positioned for the start of the next wave. After about a minute of focus fire, the banshee was still alive, and I decide to take matters into my own hands and kill off the banshee. Someone switched his mic on and said "way to kill steal", and I then switched on my mic with the retort, "kill faster then".

I got kicked in the lobby afterwards. Fun times.

Boogie used a mic? What alternate universe is this?

I suppose one thing that annoys me is having players try to use a missile first on an objective target despite the fact that another teammate called his/her missile out beforehand and has a clear view of the target. It leads to waste and it's just a plain stupid, d!ckish thing to do. Someone communicating their intention isn't an open invitation for someone else to "race" them.

I do not know how you care about kill stealing... Score whoring is one thing... But i have got the final kill on an atlas once, where he got like 1.9l assist, and i got 50 kill points...

The scores are pretty much equal to the damage you deal to the target...

Also.. At some point i was sure this was a co-op game to get to the end of the map... Why are you guys competing, when you can just lean THAT more back and let your team mates do the job, if they insist on rushing in there and kill everything...

Yes i will try and save you, and yes, i will take over where 3 banshees hugged you, just because you wanted the points :D

I hope so, cause you can't explain why a game would dole out 1500 points for putting one bullet in a nearly destroyed Atlas, and yet scenarious like that have happened far too many times. When it's the reverse, it's so disheartening.

The scores really does depend on damage dealt (plus assists, medals, etc). The main problem IIRC from the score mechanics thread, is there is a bug when you overkill. Apparently, it's more obvious for high damage single shots. Possibly the entire damage inflicted is considered as part of damage dealt to the target even if the target had 1 hp left.

I use auto weapons which don't do that much damage per bullet so i don't see this bug much

I don't mind people doing better than me (most people do). This thread is about how some people go about it. Most  play  it straight up and are just to damn good without being cheap about it. Some even helpful with revives, clutching or friendly mic-guidance - bless 'em. 

Not complaining just curious.

If they shoot the prime I've been wittling down, I don't care.

If they shoot him instead of the guy behind me, that's when I think they could've had better priorities.
