Pretty charecters tend to have more fans than the ugly.

To be fair though, that kinda apply also to guys in regard to female characters. Also, if you did visit the Cullen page, there are some straight guys who like Cullen as well like DannyBoy. Of course good looking characters would have more fans but to make it seems like the only reason is a broad generalization.

Like me. I like Cullen, and I'm straight and don't find him attractive. He's just a cool, calm, collected guy who is one of the nicest Templars ever (especially impressive after what he went through, that uncanon DAO slide is what one would expect to happen). I mean yeah he does say that Templars have power over mages by divine right, which is definitely some religious based bigotry right there, yet his actual actions and deeds show he's one of the good ones. Not only that but he's kind and respectful to pretty much everyone he meets, which gets respect from me. He's got great potential for fleshing out and further characterizing if Bioware chooses to.

To answer the question that was posed... I like Cullen because he's an interesting character and I want to know more about him. (Visit the Cullen thread for more in-depth discussions about Cullen's character.) He is an attractive character, but that's just a plus... I'm a grounded 33 year old woman; I don't go ga-ga over pixels. If he weighed 400 lbs, I confess I wouldn't be much interested in romancing him. Sorry, that's my ugly bias, and it's unfortunate. (I've never dated an extremely heavy person IRL either.) If he were a little chubby, I don't see why that would be a big deal. In any case, it's not like "I'M" dating Cullen... my character would be. Reality check much, people?

I think most of us favor a scenario where he's been disgraced and removed form the Order... perhaps we find him in a tavern or free him from prison! But him working as a spy for the Inquisition could also be interesting... though I agree that being secretive is not exactly his MO.

As i said many many times i don't like him but even i know he will be companion at worst (for me best) NPC.

Sadly he is just another draco in leather pants and many treat going against meredith as big redemption just after he slained innocent mages for mad woman , and don't mention his words about alain "you mean he was one of them , save for convenient last-minute change of heart" what he does in end? He isn't one of good templars unless someone associate guy who have potential to be Hitler as good guy.He was right hand most fanatical templar what we seen and it is clear that meredith choose him because her and him agree in many point and meredith don't like those who disagree with her.

He's referencing the trope, which refers to a tendency by fans to downplay the villainy of a certain character.

Cullen really isn't an example, as even his fangirls (and boys) readily acknowledge he's a teensy bit extreme in his views.

Really, it's the anti-Cullen crowd that seems more determined to ignore his positive traits in an effort to vilify his character. Anti-fanboyism can be just as fantatical as the regular kind.

Seeing lots of people practically begged for a Garrus romance in ME and he pretty much looks like a plucked chicken carcass in armour, I don't think a couple of pounds on Cullen would be a deal breaker.

Cullen is a cutie and an interesting character, so I hope he's in DAI.

I can imagine Cullen being like Evangeline and leaving the Templars after seeing how corrupt they were in DA2.I think he's going be to part of the faction that's still loyal to Chantry and that's how he will join the Inquisitor if he's a companion.
