I have been pondering about the process of creating an alternate mass effect story with the use of another game world editor.
i have seen this done in a few occasions.
1) Starwars battlefront 2  - multiplayer conversion.
2) garrymod imports: characters, some weapons and the mako.
3) Starwars empires at war .
4) A few skyrim mods.
5) Fallout 3.

How far can someone go with this?
Is it possibile to use crytek3 or unreal engine 4(when it will be released to the public) in order to create new levels and content for the mass effect universe?
Will be bioware/ea demand such content be taken down?

I assume that by using the unreal engine it will be easier to create new content.

How far can you use the crytek and unreal engine before you have to pay for their services.
Is it possibile to create a mass effect conversion that will work with crysis 2/3.
Or another game which is based on unreal engine 3/4.

Thanks for any input.

i was considering making a mass effect fleet battles mod - or really total conversion - for homeworld (start out with earth fleet, gain allied species vessels along the way, fight cerberus and reaper vessels, use plot arcs from mass effect games for planet evac/defense missions for single player campaign or multiplayer where each player is a different ME species and reaper is AI) but considering how few people play homeworld anymore - which is a travesty as it is still one of the best games ever - i decided it wouldnt be worth it.

You have an homeworld mod http://www.moddb.com...homeworld-2-mod

I will play around with with gmod and see what i can do with it.

Although working with crytek 3 is my wet dream.
The nanosuit is already ready to go and is even better than the regular armor.

All you need is to do is import mass effect squad mates models, A skill I lack. :-).
I am curious if its possibile to import mass effect content into crytek engine. from what i gathered it is forbidden and never been publicly done.

Which is quite a shame since its a wonderful engine.

no, just.... no
that is not a mass effect mod - that is star wars meets star trek meets world war 2 with a few mass effect ship models

i was talking about a total conversion, mass effect only for the models and an actual storyline following that of the mass effect games

gmod is fun to mess with but for a proper game with storyline youd be better using the actual source engine, valve supply the hammer editor which makes it pretty easy to accomplish a lot more than you could with gmod. shouldnt be too hard to use any gmod capable models in it either since gmod is source based.
